We have just completed our annual car wash event sponsored by the Big Ben Car Wash (Kipling and Coal Mine), they donated their facility for washing and vacuuming and Rolling Thunder Colorado Chapter one would like to thank all in the community for helping make this a successful fund raiser once again this year.
Guido's Pizzeria and King Soopers donated food and drinks for all the members. .
All proceeds raised will be used toward future events we hold to help our veteran outreach programs such as a Fathers' Day Bar-B-Q on June 15, 2008 to show our appreciation to the men and women for their service to our country and on the last Wednesday of every month members prepare and serve dinner to the veterans and their families that are receiving medical treatment and staying at the Fisher House in Aurora.
Rolling Thunder is preparing for a couple of carnival events to be held this year for the veterans within the state, one at the Colorado State Veterans Center on Sept. 6 and at Pueblo VA Nursing Home on Sept. 13.
As a special salute to all Veterans, Rolling Thunder has been asked to escort the Vietnam Traveling Memorial Wall to Thornton for Independence Day. And as a remembrance to our missing service personnel, Rolling Thunder donates a new POW flag to Fort Logan Cemetery with the members of the chapter replacing and raising a new flag quarterly.
Within the Rolling Thunders mission statement we are committed to helping American veterans from all wars. Our major function is to publicize the POW/MIA issue. We are a non-profit organization with each individual donating their time because they believe in the issues at hand.
The members of the Colorado Chapter One meet every third Saturday of the month at the VFW post 5061 (10 AM) located at 5220 West Warren Ave. Denver, CO. 80227. The meetings are open to the public to attend and see what we are doing in Colorado this year.
