Mark your calendar for the 2008 Candlelight Walk and Tree Lighting on Friday, Nov. 28 in historic Downtown Littleton. The 25th edition of this Littleton tradition will feature a magical evening of holiday festivities, culminating in the illumination of the trees on Main Street.
Santa Claus will make his way down Main Street in a sleigh followed by thousands of carolers holding candles and flashlights. Enjoy merchant open houses and bring your camera for a photo with Santa at Town Hall Arts Center or Santa's reindeer at Bradford Auto Body, 2659 W. Main Street. The reindeer appearance is generously sponsored by Bradford Auto Body and Western Welcome Week.
Gather at Town Hall Arts Center, Bega Park, or Bradford Auto Body for free hot cider and music from 5:15 to 6:30 p.m., when Santa begins making his way down Main Street, illuminating the lights as he goes. Candles will be available for 50 cents.
Donations of non-perishable food for Interfaith Community Services food drive will be accepted, as will toys for the Arapahoe Santa Claus Shop. The Littleton Chorale, Arapahoe Brass, Leawood Elementary School Choir, Mission Hills Church Choir and Colorado Fire Tribe will provide entertainment at various Main Street locations as the crowd waits for Santa to arrive.
Main Street will be closed to traffic shortly after 5 p.m. and Santa will begin his march down the street starting at the courthouse at 6:30 p.m. The event culminates at the west end of Main Street where one lucky child's name will be drawn to help Santa throw the switch on and light huge live trees. Free parking is available at Arapahoe Community College. Call 303-795-3863 for more information.
