Littleton Fire Rescue recognizes community heroes

Phil Bjorklund (left) and Dave Wolfe (third from left) received the Littleton Fire Rescue John P. Cernich Award for community heroism at the October 3 city council meeting. Bjorklund and Wolfe came to the rescue of Luis Lovatos (second from left) September 5 after the trash truck he was driving pinned him against a fence. Lovatos suffered severe injuries to his legs.

The citizen rescuers answered Lovatos' cries for help, moved the truck off of his body and comforted him until paramedics arrived. Fire Chief John Mullin is at far right.
