Festivities Feature First Female to Feast with Fellows on Father's Day
Steve's Snappin' Dogs kicked off the second qualifying event for its inaugural "Chow Down for Charity" hot dog eating contest this past Sunday, June 15 at 2:30 pm. The contest featured Littleton resident
Allyson Hathaway
as the first female to register and compete in the contest. Hathaway, along with her friend
Kevin Mumford
, were two of the eight contestants vying for an entry to the finals.
Hathaway made a gallant effort in eating as many hot dogs as she could in the three-minute timeframe however it was
Donavon Busta
of Centennial and
Matt Kish
of Denver who took the top two spots eating seven and five and a half dogs respectively.
Contestants are given a total of three minutes to devour as many hot dogs as they can - bun and all. The top-two contestants at each qualifier advance to the finals to be contested on July 27, 2008. Grand prize includes a $300 gift certificate to Sam's Club, a trophy, as well as other prizes. Second and third place winners also receive prizes and gift certificates. Subsequent qualifiers will take place June 29 and July 13 and Steve's is still accepting new entrants.
The event is aimed at gaining awareness and funds for the Colorado Aids Walk and Project Angel Heart and takes place at the 3525 E. Colfax location. The entire $25 entry fee and a portion of all hot dog sales on Sundays will directly benefit these charities.

Much to Kevin Mumford's dismay, I'm already married. But thank you to my good friend Kevin for signing up with me! Thanks for organizing a great event Steve!
