Design students on the Dean’s List at Arapahoe Community College have nominated professor Cynthia K. Greathouse to Who’s Who Among America’s Teachers®. This honor, described as “the best teachers in America selected by the best students,” recognizes Greathouse’s ability to inspire students to greater levels of academic excellence and the life-long pursuit of learning. “I nominated her because she’s just one of those teachers you will never forget. Not only does she like teaching, but she loves the world of design as a whole,” said her student, Kerry Hanneman.

Greathouse was instrumental in the development of ACC’s current course on textiles for interior design, and the research and comprehensive notebooks she requires of students are well-known. Hanneman said, “The books are phenomenal. I still go back and refer to mine three years later.”

Another student, Sharon Williams, commented on Greathouse’s passion for her work. “She’s a really great educator. She passed on her love of textiles to me.”

Mary Ann Erb first met Greathouse through her design work for the Boulder Community Hospital. Years later, when Erb wanted to pursue an education in interior design, she chose ACC specifically because of Greathouse’s textile course. Erb explained, “She had done such an outstanding job for us at the hospital, and she is a really thorough, outstanding professor.”

Greathouse is a popular speaker on commercial and residential interior design. She maintains a design practice and is a member of Design Connection at the Denver Design Center. She served on the Design Council of the Junior Symphony Guild Designer Showhouse for 2004-2005.
