The Colorado Horse Council will present its Lifetime Achievement Award to Dr.
G. Marvin Beeman
of Littleton, Colo., during ceremonies to be held March 10 during the Rocky Mountain Horse Expo in Denver.
Dr. Beeman is the fourth recipient of the award, which is given to those who the have made exceptional contributions to the equine industry in Colorado. The three previous recipients are
Wayne O. "Sage" Kester
(1998), Dr.
Jerry Bohlender
(2000) and
Stan Sours
(2001).
Beeman's leadership, commitment, dedication and willingness to serve are reflected in his service to the equine industry and in the numerous honors he has received.
Beeman's most memorable awards include the National Western Stock Show's 2005 Citizen of the West Award, American Quarter Horse Association Hall of Fame, American Farriers' Association International Horseman's Hall of Fame, International Stockmen's Hall of Fame, American Horse Council's Distinguished Service Award, Colorado Veterinarian of the Year, Colorado Horse Council Horse Person of the Year and Round-up Rider of the Year. He also was recently nominated for the American Horse Publications' 2006 Equine Industry Vision Award.
Beeman received his degree in veterinary medicine from Colorado State University in 1957. Three days after graduation, he began practicing at then Littleton Veterinary Clinic, where he continues to practice today. Due in large part to Beeman's efforts, the clinic prospered and grew into Littleton Large Animal Clinic Equine Hospital and Referral Center, and expanded from the original three principles in 1968 to 13 veterinarians currently. Additionally, the Clinic provides internships and preceptor programs for students throughout the world.

I knew Marv Beeman as a Sigma Alpha Epsilon Fraternity Brother from 1954 thru 1957. He was President of our Chapter, and is a very fine person. He is a leader, and would make an excellent Governor for Colorado! Thomas D. Roberts
