Sheridan police and fire departments responded with the Englewood police and fire departments July 22 on a report of a drowning on the South Platte River north of the Union Street bridge. According to reports, a 46-year-old Sheridan man jumped into the river at the "chutes" and was carried under water by the powerful undercurrents. According to reports, the man was under water for two to four minutes. Bystanders pulled the man out of the river and administered first aid until an ambulance arrived, police said. The man was taken to Swedish Medical Center where he was pronounced dead, according to reports. The incident has been ruled an accident and investigation revealed the man had been drinking earlier in the day.

A Sheridan police officer was called to the 3500 block of West Dill Road on July 21 on a report of a domestic assault. According to reports, a man told police he threw a cell phone at wall and it hit a woman at the home. The man was taken into custody and charged with domestic assault.

Sheridan police were called to the 3200 block of South Bryant Street on July 21 on a report from a security guard in the area that he had contacted four juveniles in a vehicle. According to reports, the officers determined the vehicle had been stolen earlier in the day. The juveniles taken into custody , according to reports. Officers processed the juveniles and released the them to their parents and guardians, according to reports. Detectives are filing the case with the District Attorneys Officer in the 18th Judicial District.
