Home invasion robbery occurs in south Jeffco

Jefferson County, Colorado - At 7:22 p.m. on June 30th sheriff's deputies responded to the 6500 block of South Arbutus Circle after receiving a 911 call from a man who reported that he had been tied up and robbed at gunpoint inside his apartment.

Deputies located the victim and interviewed him at the scene. The victim told deputies that he works at Southwest Plaza Mall and he left work around 5 p.m. The victim noticed a "brand new," black, 4-door Cadillac in the parking lot as pulled out of the mall. During his drive home the victim noticed that the Cadillac appeared to be following him. As the victim turned into his apartment complex he observed the Cadillac turn in as well and drive in the opposite direction. The victim then dismissed the idea that he was being followed and assumed the Cadillac's owner lived in the same complex.

A few minutes after the victim returned home he took his dog for a walk around the complex. As the victim returned home he was approached by a man in a mask who pointed a handgun at him and ordered him inside. The victim was told to lie chest-down on the floor and face the wall while a second suspect entered the apartment and began carrying out items of value. The suspects then duct taped the victim's hands and feet and "hog tied" his limbs together. The victim was threatened and ordered not to contact the police. The victim lay still for several minutes to make certain the suspects were gone before finally freeing himself and calling the authorities. The victim believes the robbery occurred around 6 p.m.

At 7 p.m. on June 30th a woman called Denver 911 to report a suspicious incident. The woman was sitting in the parking lot at the Wells Fargo Bank at Dartmouth & Sheridan when she observed a man in a black Cadillac pull a ski mask over his face. The man used the ATM machine, took the mask off and then drove away.

The man drove to the King Soopers at 3100 S. Sheridan Blvd. where he went inside without the mask on. A few moments later the man exited the store and drove away. A Denver police officer arrived in the area and conducted a traffic stop on the Cadillac, which had three occupants inside. During the course of the stop the driver exited his vehicle twice and was ordered to return to his car. The driver returned to the car and fled the scene. A short pursuit ensued but was quickly discontinued per policy. (The robbery in Jeffco had not yet been reported to the authorities.)

The suspect is described as a white or Hispanic male, mid 20's, 5'8" - 5'10", 200 lbs., heavy build, brown hair, wearing a long-sleeved white shirt, blue jeans and white Puma tennis shoes with silver trim. The second suspect was wearing baggy blue jeans with yellow and red embroidered pockets, and white and black "skater" shoes, possibly Vans.

The suspect vehicle appears to be a black 2009 Cadillac CTS-V with chrome around the windows. The license plate on the suspect vehicle is # LNGLGS (stolen plate from Aurora).

The attached photograph was captured from a surveillance camera at the King Soopers in Denver. The photo show one of the suspects. Anyone with information regarding this crime is urged to contact the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office tipline at 303-271-5612.
