Police blotter: Restaurant hand grenade not real

RESTAURANT HAND GRENADE NOT REAL
Littleton police evacuated two restaurants On Dec. 7 after a possible explosive device was left on a table at one of them. An employee at Merle's Restaurant, 2609 W. Main St., found the device and brought it to the owner, who took it outside and notified police. The Arapahoe County Sheriff's Office bomb squad was called to the scene and Merle's Restaurant and Opus Restaurant 2575 W. Main St., were evacuated. The device, which looked like a hand grenade was removed by the bomb squad and later detonated and found to be not real.

BILL PAID WITH COUNTERFEIT MONEY
Offices investigated an incident of fraud Dec. 10 in which patrons at Old Chicago Restaurant, 7961 S. Broadway allegedly paid a bill with counterfeit cash. A manager said three while mn, described as being in their mid 20s, about 6 feet tall with slim builds ordered food totaling $28.94 and paid with three $10 bills and two $5 bills, which turned out to be fakes.

ATTEMPTED BURGLARY INVESTIGATED
A resident of the 7900 block of South Pensylvania court reported an attempted burglary on Dec. 4. The resident said she heard her front doorbell and saw a white vehicle pull from in front of her house to a neighbor's. She then heard a noise from a lower den level and saw a while male run past a patio door, carrying what looked like a crowbar. Officers found a screen had been torn off a window next to the patio door.

MAN CHARGED WITH INDECENT EXPOSURE
Police investigated a report of indecent exposure on the 700 block of West Berry Avenue on Dec. 6. A woman reported a Hispanic male suspect had followed her from the parking lot to her apartment and was lying on the landing outside her door. Officers found the suspect, a 17-year-old male lying on the landing fondling himself. He also appeared intoxicated and had a bloodied face from and a cut to the forehead, according to the report. The suspect told police he had been in a fight earlier. He was handcuffed and taken for medical treatment and cited for indecent exposure, curfew violation and possession of alcohol and taken to the Jevenile Assessment Denter.

MAN ARRESTED AFTER POT SCUFFLE
Police investigated a 20-year-old Denver man on suspicion of disorderly conduct on Dec. 13, after he was allegedly involved in a scuffle with another man in a McDonald's restaurant at 2700 W. Belleview Ave. about 5:20 p.m. The scuffle allegedly involved the sale of marijuana, and officers later recovered a quantity of suspected marijuana from the floor. The unidentified suspect, described only as a white male, fled in a 1990s Honda with three other men. The car backed into an unoccupied vehicle while fleeing the parking lot. The 20-year-old Denver man was taken to the Arapahoe County Jail.

WRONG-WAY RIDE NETS DUI ARREST
Police arrested a 20-year-old Englewood man on suspicion of DUI about 10:35 p.m. Dec. 5 after he was observed driving an ATV in the wrong direction on the 5400 block of South Broadway, causing vehicles to swerve to avoid hitting him. The driver refused to stop when pursued by an officer and allegedly nearly rolled the ATV when turning a corner before stopping. The driver failed roadside sobriety tests and was taken to the Arapahoe County Jail.
