On July 30, at approximately 3:40 p.m., Arapahoe County Sheriff's deputies responded to the 15700 block of East Jamison Drive, on the report of a possible burglary in progress. While en-route, dispatch advised the deputies that the suspects had left the scene in a black SUV.
At approximately 3:47 p.m., Arapahoe County Sheriff's Deputy, Paula Cohn, observed the suspect vehicle turn east onto Arapahoe Road from Jordan Road. Deputy Cohn initiated a traffic stop in the shopping center at 15000 East Arapahoe Road. Once the vehicle came to a stop, the passenger in the front seat exited the vehicle and ran. Deputy Cohn aired a description of the fleeing suspect to responding deputies while detaining the driver at gunpoint. A perimeter was established and the second suspect was apprehended by an Aurora Police Department K-9 unit north of the shopping center in a field. The suspect vehicle was filled with guns, televisions, and electronic equipment.
Arapahoe County Sheriff's Office Deputy, Samuel Sala, responded to the originally reported address and confirmed that the apartment had been broken into and ransacked. The homeowner advised several guns and jewelry were missing. At the time of this report, two additional burglaries have been reported in the same area.
The suspects were identified as Christopher Vigil, Age 29 and Jimmy Garcia, Age 23.
Both suspects were transported to the Arapahoe County Detention Facility where they were charged with first-degree Bbrglary. Bond was set at $50,000 each. Additionally, Mr. Vigil was currently out on bond for third-degree burglary and an escape charge out of Adams and Jefferson Counties. Mr. Garcia had eight active warrants, totaling $40,167, including a burglary out of Jefferson County.
