Bonfils Blood Center and its presenting sponsor KeyBank along with platinum sponsor Global Med Technologies and gold sponsors Saunders Construction and Ortho-Clinical Diagnostics hosted its most successful annual charity golf tournament at the Glenmoor Country Club in Cherry Hills Village, Colo. on Aug. 18 which raised more than $127,000 to support the blood center and patients in need.
The fifth annual Chip in for Life tournament was attended by 115 golfers representing nearly 50 organizations. A third of participants also took home prizes donated by Computype, Hospital Shared Services, Pall Medical, Sport Haley and VSP.
Bonfils Blood Center Board of Trustees Chairman Harvey Swan served as master of ceremonies for the luncheon program which featured remarks from Tom Puckett, Bonfils president and CEO; Stuart Pattison, president of Key Bank; Leslie Strate, Bonfils Blood Center Foundation executive director; and four-time cancer survivor and blood recipient David Collinson.
Funds raised at the tournament will support the blood center's blood supply safety initiatives, community and donor outreach, the Colorado Marrow Donor Program, equipment, technology and facility advancements, employee skills training and research as well as supporting the cost of a new bloodmobile.
Bonfils thanks its generous Chip in For Life sponsors for their support of this important life-saving event. The tournament's silver sponsors include: CaridianBCT, Holmes Roberts & Owen, Lakewood Electric, Merrill Lynch, Pinnacol Assurance, Public Service Credit Union, Roche Diagnostics, Stericycle and Sunshine.
Established in 1995, Bonfils Blood Center Foundation is the fundraising arm of Bonfils Blood Center and provides financial support for many of the blood center's life-saving efforts. Bonfils Blood Center provides blood and blood products to more than 200 hospitals and healthcare facilities and needs to collect 4,000 blood donations weekly to meet the needs of the community and to be prepared for any unexpected events. For information about Bonfils Blood Center or Bonfils Blood Center Foundation please visit www.bonfils.org or call 303.366.2000.
