Daniel Deane of Boy Scout Troop 361 in Littleton Colorado has achieved the rank of Eagle Scout. He wanted to give back to his home Parish, St. Mary Catholic Church in Littleton where he attended St. Mary School from Kindergarten through eighth grade and was an Altar Server for four years. His Eagle Scout Project benefited the Parish by creating an instructional Altar Server training video. The video was designed to aide the priests of St. Mary by providing training to new and returning Altar Servers. This has reduced the time required of the priest responsible for the task. The video will be available on the Parish website as well.
The DVD includes Altar Serving team approach, guidelines for dress, procession in to the church, presenting the Sacramental, the Mass itself and cleaning up. St. Mary's Pastor Fr. Alvaro Montero gives the opening introduction. The video's creation was overseen by Fr. Javier Nieva . Narration was provided by St. Mary's School principal Mary Cohen along with members of St. Mary's staff, Mayo Watson and William Kehrman. The conclusion was narrated by Archbishop Charles Chaput. Fr. Philip Steele (Regis Jesuit High School President) narrates a special section on the Patron Saints of Altar Serving as well as special Mass equipment.
Daniel has attended the Summer Film School offered through the Binning Family Foundation and Bemis Public Library for the last four summers. Daniel learned filmmaking under the guidance of Executive Director Sean O'Shea and Technology Program Director Troy Markgraf at Binning.
In addition to achieving the highest rank in Boy Scouts, Daniel is an excellent student/athlete. Daniel has made high honor roll since middle school. He is a sophomore at Regis Jesuit High School and competes on the cross country and swim teams as well as being a member of the Denver Swim Academy.
