ArapahoeCounty establishes Justice Coordinating CommitteeGroup to advise Commissioners on County's court, jail system
LITTLETON, CO --- The Arapahoe County Board of CountyCommissioners Tuesday established a new Justice Coordinating Committee that will create a forum to review, recommend and advise the Board on issues concerning the Arapahoe County Justice System.
The Justice Coordinating Committee will continue a dialogue that began two years ago among citizens and representatives from the courts, law enforcement, local, state and county government on the issues, space needs and necessary efficiencies in the County's courts and jail.
Establishment of the JCC comes after the completion of a two-year study by the DLR Group for ArapahoeCounty to address jail overcrowding and space needs in the courts. The report outlined a variety of short and long-term solutions to address space needs and efficiencies in the County's courts and jail.
"The JCC is just another step by ArapahoeCounty to ensure we have the most efficient justice system in the State," said Commissioner Jim Dyer, who will serve on the committee. "The committee will advise the Board of County Commissioners on any necessary steps needed to ensure we are getting the best use of our facilities and our tax dollars before we move forward with any expansion plans."
