Andrea, son
Raleigh, 3 grandkids
What I do: business communication consultant and educator
My favorite place in town to hang out: Hudson Gardens
What I like most about living here: The physical place that's Colorado
My interests and hobbies: golf, travel, reading, writing, movies, working out
What is my favorite thing to cook: My husband does the cooking now; he likes it
People who inspired me (and how): My parents - they came up through the depression and WWII to raise their children to be good citizens and contribute to our community; my sister- because she's dealt with two chronic illnesses and still gets anything she wants done, including a full career in a title one school in San Jose, CA; and my husband because he's committed to good government and keeping Colorado a great state
How I have contributed to the community: I led the bond campaign that built Dakota Ridge High School, Summit Ridge Middle School, and Powderhorn Elementary and renovated Columbine, Bear Creek, and the other older schools in Jefferson County; Chair of the Jefferson County Schools Accountability Committee to bring budget and academic oversight over the Jeffco Schools; Program chair, The Jefferson Foundation, a charitable arm of Jeffco schools; Volunteer at Patterson Elementary and supporter of its technology center and library; Lead contributor, 3N Scholarship Fund to help abused women living in Warren Village to complete their college education.
What are the biggest issues facing the community now: Keeping Colorado the place where we LOVE to live; making our school systems among the best in the country; unraveling the health care mess; getting control over our immigration problems; investing in alternative energy and biomedicine as an economic engine for the state.
