Local Author is Homeless Pets' Best Friend

You may have seen this local, pet loving author at various humane society fund-raising events or at the Petco where she works. Elaine Marlier's book signing tours don't take her from city to city but rather to events with animal shelters and rescue groups throughout the state of Colorado. Elaine created and wrote a series of books about animal adoptions titled - Without A Home, published by DNJ Books. She believes that "all animals, no matter the breed, size, or amount of fur on their bodies, have a heart and soul. They also have a mind -albeit we may not always understand it." Her books promote adoption of pets over purchase and her well written, heartfelt tales will convince you that adoption is the best option!

There are currently three books in the series, one about dogs, one about cats, and the third, just published this year, about small animals. Each book is a wonderful and unique collection of short stories about animals who unexpectedly find themselves - without a home. Through the animal's point of view, and their own words, you will follow their journeys of life before the shelter, their stay at the shelter, and learn of their incredible new lives with the people who have given them that second chance at life. You will even be reminded of some of life's most important lessons, while learning to understand the bond between the human and the animal that can only come from when one saves the life of an animal. The fourth in the series about horses is slated for publication next year.

You won't find her books in bookstores, but you will find them at many events in conjunction with animal adoptions throughout Colorado. Donate to the group she's representing, and she'll autograph a copy and give it to you for free! For example, last Saturday in Conifer at the Intermountain Humane Society's second Annual Dog Walk at Meyer's Ranch her books were proudly displayed and offered to participants at the IMHS booth.
