Littleton resident honored at benefit luncheon

Scott Thoemke, executive director and CEO, Arapahoe/Douglas Mental Health Network (ADMHN), congratulates Margie Walsh after presenting her with the Pat Echtermeyer Community Hero Award at ADMHN's 8th Annual Mental Health Benefit Luncheon earlier this month. Margie Walsh is a mental health advocate, and teaches classes to those who have a family member with a mental illness. She's trained hundreds of trainers across the state who are now teaching the program to others. Margie is also involved with the Crisis Intervention Training program. This program trains police officers to recognize mental illness when they encounter it and, rather than arresting citizens, helps them to access mental health resources.
