What happens in Vegas doesn't always stay in Vegas

On a trip to Vegas in June, 2005, we were in town to see the Colorado Crush play (and win) the Arena Football Championship. Little did we know that the team, and it's owner,
John Elway
, were staying at our hotel.
After the game, my husband went to the room, and I went to the pool. On my way back into the lobby, I saw John Elway walking through the lobby. When I got up to our room, I was so excited to tell my husband that John Elway was in the hotel! I have never personally met John Elway, a Denver icon. We have had the privilege of personally meeting President Clinton in the Rose Garden, General Colin Powell at an intimate dinner party, and a couple of celebrities. But this Denver hero was someone I had always wanted to meet.
I told my husband that I was going to put my game ticket in my pocket, and if I saw him again, I would ask for his autograph.
After we went back to the lobby of the hotel, we caught a glimpse of John Elway walking towards the elevators. I took off towards the elevators, leaving my husband in the dust, afraid I would lose sight of him. Mind you I am not a stalker of celebrities, but I could not resist congratulating him on the big win. He stepped into the elevator with the group he was with, and I got on the same elevator with them. It took me about 5 floors to congratulate Mr. Elway, and ask if he would please sign my ticket. He was so gracious, and thanked us for coming all the way from Denver to see the game! I am sure lots of people follow John Elway, and when they see them, approach him, not only in Vegas.

Nice story! I follow the Colorado Crush and find everyone very approachable, too.
