The life of a Rockies fan
Contributed by: Rachel Hughes on 4/3/2008

I was born in Colorado before the Rockies were a twinkle in many Coloradans' eyes. I grew up rooting for the Chicago Cubs, singing along with Harry Caray during many 7 th inning stretches. In high school, when I got an electric keyboard, I immediately put it on the "Organ" setting and drove my parents crazy playing "Take Me Out to the Ballgame" over and over.

I was absolutely ECSTATIC when, during my sophomore year of college in Denver, we were awarded the best franchise in MLB history - The Colorado Rockies!!

Since then, I have been to games every season. From the inaugural season at Mile High to the inaugural season at Coors Field to the pennant season of 2007. I have been to games with friends and with family. As I have grown older, I have been with my husband and, most recently, with my children.

I love to see my two sons, Jacob, 6, and Eric, 2, develop their own love of the Rockies. Jacob has played two seasons on the YMCA Junior Rockies. Last year, during the race to the World Series, every game day, we sat down to a family dinner of hot dogs and peanuts before settling in to watch the game together.

I have been a baseball fan since birth and a Colorado Rockies fan since the birth of the franchise. I am passing my Rockies Mania down to the next generation and loving EVERY MINUTE of it! Go Rockies!
