Cub Scout Pack 538 honors Good Turn Week 2009

Cub Scout Pack 538 from Governor's Ranch Elementary School honored Good Turn Week on November 7th. Over 50 Scouts and family members gathered at Governor's Ranch Elementary in Littleton to complete several outdoor projects.

The hardworking Scouts and their families filled nearly 60 bags with leaves, pine needles and trash, swept loose gravel back into the playground area, and pulled weeds.

Scouting was founded 99 years ago on the premise of "Doing a Good Turn Daily". Today, community service is still an important part of the Scouting program. In 2003, the Denver Area Council introduced a new community service initiative called "Good Turn Week." This program invites all Scouting groups to plan and implement a community service project of their choice to benefit their local neighborhood. Many thanks to Cub Scout mom Melissa Wallace for coordinating this year's project.
