You be the judge
Contributed by: Heather Gonzales-Dittenber on 2/16/2006

For the sake of judgment (yes, I am asking you to judge) I am omitting the name of each of the two people I am describing ...Instead I am going to write facts about each individual, in doing so I would like you to decide the following:

Who poses the biggest threat to The United States of America?

Person A: A leading member of the Saudi Royal Family. This person served at the head of Saudi intelligence services from 1977 to 2001 and in his many years dealt with both Osama Bin Laden and Saddam Hussein....Described Osama Bin Laden (during the 1980’s) as “gentle and self-effacing”. Person A believes that the reasons his country does not allow women to vote are “Very Practical” (see www.msnbc.msn.com). And according to Globalsecurity.org, Person A was “one of three Saudi’s sued for allegedly helping to finance the terrorist attacks of 11th September 2001 and that he negotiated a deal in which Al Qaeda agreed to end efforts to subvert the Saudi monarchy in exchange for a Saudi promise not to extradite terrorist leaders.”

And as recently as 2004 it was reported that German intelligence analysts discovered that this person had connections with two Saudi companies that were linked with suspected Al Qaeda cells in Germany.

Person B: American citizen who’s son was killed in action April 4, 2004. This person is a Founding member of Gold Star Families for Peace. Recently attended a reception hosted by the Mayor of London in honor of her peace efforts, as well as delivered 10,000 petitions to the Foreign Minister of Ireland, Dermot Ahern asking he stop allowing the U.S. to land and refuel there. This person will also be speaking to the European Union Parliament two times this year asking them to pressure the US to move towards diplomacy and peace. This person also refuses to pay her taxes for the year 2004, the year her son was killed in the Iraqi War.

Ok, so now that you have read both “definitions,” I will tell you who each one is and why I think they are relevant.

The first is Prince Turki al Faisal and he was an invited guest to the State of The Union. He sat in the galley and looked on, and clapped along side others during our President's speech.

“Person B” is Cindy Sheehan; she too had a ticket to the State of The Union it was given to her by Lynn Woolsey (D-CA.). Cindy Sheehan however was arrested at the SOTU.

Cindy Sheehan was arrested for “protesting” at the State of The Union? Her protest, by the way ,was an article of clothing that read “2245 Dead. How many more?” This is flat out unacceptable; I thought our President was supposed to uphold our civil liberties, not crush them like a dictator; he must have forgotten the meaning of The First Amendment. Is our President so insecure that he can’t allow for civil disobedience? Is he so arrogant that he doesn’t hesitate to seat someone who at the very least has questionable ties to our adversaries in the Middle East?

This one incident may seem fairly insignificant, however it makes me wonder; if Mr. Bush is willing to associate himself with controversial people such as Prince Al-Faisal in public, who does he surround himself with in private?
