Polk Leads CGA Senior Stroke Play

Robert Polk of Pinery CC fired a second round 68 for a 138 total to take a three-stroke lead in the 2005 CGA State Senior Stroke Play Championship at Highlands Ranch Golf Club. Polk is vying for his second CGA tournament title in as many weeks, as he won the CGA Senior Four-Ball Championship last week with partner Jim Pierce. The first round leader, Harry Johnson of Eagle Ranch GC, shot 73 in the second round to fall to second place at 141. 2004 runner-up Larry Netherton continues to use his home course advantage shooting 72 in the second round to be just four strokes off the lead at 142. Fellow Highlands Ranch GC player David Brown is one stroke behind Netherton at 143. 2004 CGA Senior Points winner Bill Boyd of Highland Hills GC and Scott Crone of Pinehurst CC are both in fifth place at even-par 144 going into the final round.

The field was cut at 154 to the low 40 plus ties for the final round on Wednesday.
