Girls' high school rugby engulfed by SWARM!
Contributed by: Carolyn Edwards on 11/6/2006

This year, an ambitious young woman and phenomenal athlete, Amanda Edwards decided she was going to start up a new club rugby team for high school girls in her neighborhood. Amanda received approval from the Colorado Youth Rugby League to start the team and began the process of recruiting girls to play a sport some of them had never heard of before.

On September 9, 2006 the Southwest Area Rugby (SWARM) girls team took the field for the very first time. The team consists of 22 young women all from Chatfield Senior High School and all incredible athletes who were up for the challenge of learning a new sport. The team successes will be evident this coming Saturday, Nov. 11 at 5 p.m. at Regis High School Football Stadium as the SWARM girls' rugby team plays for the title of State Champs! SWARM's opponent in the match will be from Regis High School. After an undefeated run through the playoffs, SWARM will be hoping to win the coveted prize of State Champions in its inaugural season.

Therefore, I proudly nominate Amanda Edwards and her 21 teammates from the SWARM girls' rugby team as athletes of the week.
