Fort Lewis College head women's soccer coach Jaymee Carozza announced the signing of defender Kelly O'Leary of Littleton to a National Letter of Intent today.
O'Leary hails from Heritage High School where she was a three sport letterwinner in cross country, basketball and soccer. O'Leary played club soccer for the Colorado Soccer Academy '88 where she won a state championship title in 2005.
"Kelly initially wasn't looking at Fort Lewis College but when she came on her official visit she got along great with the team and loved the area," said Carozza. "We were fortunate to get her to come and look at the campus. Kelly is a strong defender with a lot of speed and composure coming out of the back. She loves to head the ball out of the air which will contribute greatly to our defense."
Kelly is the daughter of Sue and Greg O'Leary.
Kelly joins Randi Lucero-Wilson (Fort Collins), Nichole Kluk (Los Alamos, N.M.) and Natasha Goslow (Corrales, N.M.) in the Skyhawks 2006 recruiting class.
The Skyhawks completed their most successful season since 1999, finishing 13-4-3 overall and 10-3-1 in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference. The Skyhawks earned a second seed in the 2005 RMAC Tournament, making their first appearance since 1999.
