Colorado School of Mines freshman pitcher
Katie Kocman (Littleton, Colo./Columbine) fired
a complete game, two hitter to lead CSM to a 5-1 victory over
UC-Colorado Springs in the second game of Saturday's Rocky Mountain
Athletic Conference doubleheader at CSM Field.
UCCS (26-5, 15-5 RMAC) won the opener, 4-0, as it scored four
runs in the fourth inning highlighted by
Janine Ota's three-run triple.
In game two, the Orediggers raced out to a 3-0 lead after three
innings and the Mountain Lions did not threaten as Kocman struck
out five. Amanda Ritchie improved to 15-1 this season as she won
the opener with a complete game shutout. She allowed eight hits and
fanned seven.
On April 14 Kocman went the distance for the Orediggers
for the second straight game, earning her fifth win of the
season. The freshman is now 5-9 on the year.
The two teams will conclude their four-game series with another
doubleheader on Saturday. First pitch is slated for 11:00 am at CSM
Field.
