Want to improve your soccer skills? Try futsal
Contributed by: Elizabeth Brown on 6/7/2006

With the World Cup of Soccer just around the corner, kids of all ages will be watching the greatest soccer players in the world show off their talent and expertise. How did the world's best players become the best? Well, the less known sport of futsal is where many started!

Luckily, Guilherme Carniel, a former soccer star from Brazil, and Director of Coaching for Carniel Soccer, is introducing the sport here locally and trying to stir up interest in this exciting and challenging soccer-like game.

"Player development comes from ball touches and experience," Guilherme says, "and in futsal, a player touches the ball twice as much than an outdoor soccer game. Since it is 5V5, played on an indoor hard surface floor with no side walls, the play is fast and exciting!"

Futsal is played world-wide, especially in Brazil, and many great soccer legends like Pele and the hot new star, Ronaldinho, have grown up playing futsal.

Guilherme and his staff are thrilled to be introducing this soccer-like sport to the Denver metro area. Guilherme has led several futsal camps, clinics and tournaments in the last year, and now, is expanding to offer futsal camps and clinics this summer. In July, Guilherme is taking a local team to the National Championships in Anaheim, California! For more information, go to www.carnielsoccer.com
