David Bahm has a special way of lighting up a room when he enters it. His smile and positive outlook on life are contagious.
Born and raised in Albuquerque, New Mexico, David started drawing when he was about 8 years old. His painting and illustrating skills helped him get involved with the school newspaper and yearbook and he worked as a paste up artist after graduation. He obtained his degree in Commercial Art from Oral Roberts University in Tulsa, Oklahoma in 1991 and went on to study desktop publishing at Oklahoma State University in Okmulgee. He has worked professionally in graphic design and advertising for the last 16 years.
David met his wife, Jennifer, on the internet in late 1997 and, within 4 months, resigned his job in Albuquerque and moved to the Denver area. Marriage soon followed.
As an active and engaged member of the Parker Artists Guild, David organized the highly successful April 2008 Spring Art Show in Parker. He is an executive board member and records minutes of all executive board and general meetings. He devotes his time and exceptional talents to designing many of PAG's events, postcards, mailings, flyers etc., never saying no to a request and never taking payment. David's mediums include acrylics and watercolor with ink. His favorite subjects to paint are old structures and vehicles plus historical locations and buildings along historic Route 66.
David was born with cerebral palsy, a condition that does not seem to slow down his active and involved participation in our community. He hopes that his art will be an inspiration and motivation for other disabled individuals. All who know David will confirm that his hopes are being realized in exceptional measure.
This year he will be exhibiting his work at Art in the Park (ATP) for the first time, on Saturday and Sunday, August 23 and 24 in O'Brien Park, downtown Parker. This is Parker's largest public art event and it has been held every year since 2002. Members of the public are encouraged to visit ATP this year and see David's unique art and that of nearly 100 other talented artists.
