HubCap: Laugh until you wet yourself
Contributed by: Brendan Leonard/YourHub.com   on 7/12/2006

This was one of my father's favorite jokes when I was growing up:

Monster Joe: "Does your face hurt?"

Me: "No, why?"

Monster Joe: "Well, it's killing me." (Followed by uncontrollable laughter.)

Well, Dad, my face actually hurts today, because I've just spent a few minutes reading all the posts by Karin Malchow, of Lone Tree. I have no idea where Karin heard about YourHub.com, or why she attends Lone Tree City Council meetings, but I'm glad she does, because her stories crack me up almost to the point of incontinence . She writes about actual news, but wisecracks about it the whole time.

Take this story about the Lone Tree City Council changing its city code to allow(!) "sexually oriented businesses." This quote is a perfect example of what I'm talking about:

" On a personal note, in 1980, I went to The Wild Goose in Los Angeles. (It costs a lot to live in L.A. and they had a great lunch special.) Mud wrestling was the scheduled event. A girl in a bikini approached me in the bathroom, telling me I'd better hustle if I was up next. It remains one of the greatest compliments I have ever received."

There's more: This story about Eagle Ridge Elementary cancelling, then reinstating their Revoluntionary War reenactment. This quote brings it all together: "
As far as I was concerned, when General Sherman said "War is hell," he was talking about third grade."

Or,
this story about Lone Tree keeping outsiders out of its Fourth of July fireworks display.

Here's Karin's full portfolio of work on YourHub.com.

Back in my heyday of spending four to six hours a day sitting on a barstool, I would have loved to sit next to Karin in a bar and trade stories. Thankfully, there is now an Internet-based substitute. Remind me sometime to tell you the story about the time we decided to spend the afternoon drinking Bloody Marys in the driveway and shooting bottle rockets out of our mouths.

Brendan, I read them all in one sitting the other night. The mother rap was my favorite. I really like the superimposed photo.

Ahh, another satisfied Lone Tree reader. I also would recommend reading Karin Malchow's work. And, in case you're wondering, she's just as interesting in person as she is on the Web.
