Blog Entry 244 of 254 Average Joe. Not.
I was born, therefore I blog. I have a sense of the ridiculous and need an outlet for that. I can be serious too and love to write little stories about little known but important people and events. And I love wildlife and travel and will always try to share those experiences. I make things up (its called fiction) and am amused when readers are duped into believing they are true.

Secret Mexico location revealed
Contributed by: Joe McDaniel   on 5/10/2008

After dreaming up the title of this blog I changed my mind and decided not to reveal the wonderful location where Jan and I spent a week in April. To do so would entice too many people to go there and that would not be a good thing.

I can tell you, without feeling too guilty, that it is a small village on the Baja coast, sometimes referred to as a resort, that offers basic comforts. Forget about TV, radio, telephone or internet. No crowds, just friendly, relaxed people. Warm sunny days, incredible snorkeling on the only living coral reef in the eastern Pacific, all the way from Alaska to Tierra del Fuego. Sunrises compete with sunsets for adjectives such as unbelievable, breathtaking, stunning, brilliant, amazing, etc.

The marine life is accessible within minutes by motor boat or kayak. In a space of two hours one morning we watched sea lions along the shore, saw manta rays leaping from the water and stared in awe as several humpback whales frolicked within 100 yards of our boat.

The place is a photographer's dream. Here are a few images to whet appetites.

Speaking of appetites, there are three small family owned restaurants in the "resort," offering a choice of Mexican cuisine, Mexican cuisine, or Mexican cuisine, all at bargain prices. The chicken quesidillas and fish tacos are to die for, and very potent margaritas had to be shared between two. Fresh fish was brought in daily and cleaned on the beach, attracting large numbers of birds, including gulls, ravens and turkey buzzards. In the background swirling and diving brown pelicans provided entertainment.

Bungalows are very comfortable, with kitchens, hot water - our's even had an outdoor shower - and thatched-roofed deck to lounge on and read books or just snooze in the tropical breeze.

I wonder if I should mention the name of the place? Not.
