Lone Tree prepares for first-ever Taste
Contributed by: Steve Shultz/YourHub.com on 6/17/2008

With so many restaurants popping up in Lone Tree, the Chamber of Commerce figured this summer would be a great time to showcase them in its first-ever Taste event.

"Lone Tree is the restaurant capital of Colorado -- we have so many great restaurants," said Lone Tree Chamber of Commerce President Donna Russell. "We have lots of new restaurants. Surely we have more restaurants than any other city in Colorado. I think our time has come."

According to Kirstin Bomgardner, the arts, recreation and events coordinator for the City of Lone Tree, the city currently has more restaurants per capita than any other city in Colorado.

"It is only fitting that Lone Tree put their restaurants on display for a weekend of food, wine and fine art," Bomgardner said.

The event will showcase local artists as well.

A Taste of Lone Tree Art and Food Festival will take place from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. June 21 and 22 in the parking lot of Treo at Lone Tree, 9070 Maximus Drive.

The event will feature 26 Lone Tree restaurants, 40 artists from Parker, Castle Rock and Lone Tree and a wine and beer garden.

Tickets cost $10 for adults and $5 for kids 5 to 13. Children younger than 4 will be admitted free. Tickets can be purchased at the City of Lone Tree administrative building, 9220 Kimmer Drive, or at the event. All proceeds will go to the Women's Crisis & Family Outreach Center.

The event is sponsored by the Lone Tree Chamber of Commerce, the City of Lone Tree and the Parker Artists Guild.

Russell said she presented the idea to the City of Lone Tree last fall, and they proposed to pair it with an existing art show to "savor the flavor of Lone Tree."

Russell said she anticipates between 400 to 500 people each day.

Jackie Campbell, a board member with Parker Artists Guild, said the Lone Tree Arts Council contacted them last year asking for help in creating an art show similar to Parker's Art in the Park event. She said they set up an art show in conjunction with Lone Tree's Concerts in the Park.

At A Taste of Lone Tree Art and Food Festival, 30 local artists will be represented in tents while exhibiting and selling both original works and prints.

"The idea is to add art to the event and strengthen the overall appeal," Campbell said. "We enjoy working with Lone Tree and it is a win-win for both groups of people."

She said the joint effort strengthens Parker Artists Guild's relationship with the Lone Tree Arts Council and the City of Lone Tree.

"More importantly is the idea of helping to mentor the Lone Tree Arts Guild and strengthen them so they could do other shows, grow and learn from our past experiences," she said.
