Reported by Lone Tree Police
GIRL BACKS OVER BIKE OFFICER
A motorist pulling out of a parking space at Park Meadows, 8415 Park Meadows Center Drive, struck an officer while he was on bike patrol at about 3 p.m. June 15. The officer attempted to get out of the way, but the Jeep Liberty hit him, bringing him to the ground with the bicycle. The vehicle was traveling very slow, and continued to back over the bicycle and officer for a few seconds before stopping and driving forward into the parking space. The officer received minor bruises and cuts to both legs. The bicycle had scrapes on the pedal and frame. There was no damage to the Jeep. The driver, a 16-year-old Centennial girl, was issued a summons for unsafe backing.
PASSENGER ARRESTED ON FOUR WARRANTS
At about 2:30 a.m. June 18, an officer pulled over a motorist for a defective headlight while driving southbound on the 9600 block of Park Meadows Drive. There was a passenger in the vehicle, and the officer could smell the odor of alcohol coming from inside the vehicle. The driver said she did not have anything to drink, but the passenger, a 20-year-old Lone Tree man, admitted he had been drinking. A background check revealed the man had four active warrants out for his arrest: three for contempt of court and one for failure to appear. He was arrested without incident.
IPOD, CDS STOLEN FROM VEHICLE
An officer responded to an apartment complex on the 10000 block of Park Meadows Drive at about 3:30 p.m. June 16 on a report of a vehicle trespass. A 24-year-old woman said she parked her vehicle at about 9 p.m. June 15 and returned at about 2 p.m. June 16. She thought she locked the doors, but, when she returned to the car, all the doors were unlocked and she found the following items missing: an iPod, DKNY sunglasses, headphones and 20 CDs. The total loss was estimated at $932. There are no suspects.
THIEF STRIKES KIOSK DURING LUNCH
An officer was dispatched to the Soho kiosk at Park Meadows, 8405 Park Meadows Center Drive, at about 2 p.m. June 16 on a report of theft. The owner said she went to lunch at about noon, and, when she returned, she noticed several pieces of jewelry missing. Apparently, an employee was present but was "busy" styling customers' hair. The items stolen were hair accessories valued at about $650. After viewing surveillance footage from the kiosk, police were unable to see anyone taking the items; however, they noted the employee was rather inattentive.
