Lone Tree Police MAN BEATEN BY SIX OTHER MEN Police responded to an apartment complex on the 10000 block of Park Meadows Drive on a report of a man with a bloody face at about 10 p.m. June 28. An officer found several drops of blood in a staircase, leading upstairs to the second floor. The trail of blood stopped at the door to one apartment, and police could hear voices inside the apartment. Several people walked out of the apartment, including the man who was bleeding, a 20-year-old man with cuts and bruises to his face. The 20-year-old said his girlfriend's ex-boyfriend, a 23-year-old Parker man, and at least six other men jumped him outside the apartment building. He said he was hit several times, knocked down to the ground and kicked. The girlfriend, 17, was punched in the face as she tried to break up the beating. The boyfriend said he was angry but did not want charges pursued. The 23-year-old and the other suspects are still at large.

NEIGHBOR FED UP WITH SMOKING An officer was dispatched to a house on the 8200 block of Sweetwater Road on a report of a drug violation at about 7:30 p.m. June 29. A neighbor said the people who live one house down regularly smoke marijuana in their backyard. The owner of the other house, a 40-year-old woman, gave consent for police to look around for drugs, but no evidence of criminal activity was found. The woman's 18-year-old son said he and a friend had been smoking marijuana in the garage. A background check revealed the 18-year-old had a warrant for his arrest out of Fort Collins for failure to appear in court for a traffic offense. He was arrested and transported to Douglas County Jail without incident.

GIRLS SHOPLIFT AT JC PENNEY At about 12:30 p.m. June 29, police responded to JC Penney, 8417 Park Meadows Center Drive, on a report of theft. A store employee saw two juvenile girls shopping in the jewelry department. The girls selected some jewelry and proceeded to the juniors section, picking out several shirts and two necklaces. The girls then entered a single fitting room together. The manager went into the fitting room after the girls left and found tags for some of the merchandise. The girls were contacted at the store exit and brought into the loss prevention office. The total value of the merchandise the girls shoplifted was $92. The girls were issued summonses for shoplifting and later released to their mothers.

BAD SHOCKS LEAD TO ARREST At about 1 a.m. June 19, an officer pulled over a motorist on Interstate 25 south of Lincoln Avenue because the car was weaving and bouncing due to an apparent problem with the vehicle's shocks. A background check revealed the driver, a 20-year-old Colorado Springs man, had a warrant for his arrest out of El Paso County for failure to appear in court on a traffic offense. He was arrested and transported to Douglas County Jail. A small baggie of marijuana was found in his shoe while he was being processed.
