GIRL TICKETED FOR SHOPLIFTING
At 9:30 p.m. June 20, officers were dispatched to JCPenneys, 8417 S. Park Meadows Center Drive, on a report of a shoplifting. A 22-year-old loss prevention officer for JCPenneys told deputies she was reviewing surveillance cameras and observed a girl in the jewelry department take a ring from a display and put it on her finger. The girl also removed a necklace from a display and put it in a shopping bag. The loss-prevention officer contacted the girl at the store's entrance, and the girl admitted to taking the jewelry without paying for it. The ring was valued at $30 and the necklace was valued at $60. The girl was issued a summons on suspicion of theft and was released to her father.
RUNNING RED LIGHT LEADS TO ARREST
At 5:24 p.m. June 21, officers observed a 1998 Honda Accord drive through a red light at the intersection of Parkland Drive and Yosemite Street. After initiating a traffic stop, dispatch confirmed that the driver, a 28-year-old man, had an active protection order in place from the 29-year-old woman who was riding with him in the car. The man asked officers, "They haven't taken care of the orders yet, have they?" The man was arrested on suspicion of violating his restraining order.
