Through the eyes of a stranger
Contributed by: Sandy Clifton on 9/16/2006

Do you ever feel like your alone even when your not?

I moved here to Colorado in 2002 desperate to get away from the heat of Texas and explore something new and exciting. I have been here now for four years, and I have loved every bit of it.

Colorado is like no other state that I have ever been to. Its beautiful, has great weather and has terrific views. The only thing it is lacking is family. You never really realize how much they mean to you until you're away. Never really dawns on you how much you need them until you don't have them near.

After getting over the excitement and the allurement of this state, you realize the things that matter the most are your family and friends. Haven't made too many friends in Colorado. You would think it would be easy but its one of the most difficult things that I have still yet to accomplish.

It's the true friend you want and they are the hardest ones to obtain. I live in a somewhat small city with my husband. When he's at work I feel completely alone. I go out and take pictures to keep my mind off that fact and realized that taking pictures is something I really enjoy to do. Capturing that one shot, the one shot that you know that know one else can recreate.

So I have my camera and my self on most weekends. Is that enough? Will that make me whole? I hope...

Your blog really hits home lately. I moved here in 2000 & have met various groups of friends but they haven't been the same as the friends I left before I moved. A lot of it is circumstances I suppose. It's a lot harder to grow friends I think when you hit past a single age in life. I wish I had a magical #. Maybe it's not the age but the time. It's like a Chia-Pet it takes a while to grow good friends :-)

I'm sure you would be welcomed at both Parker and Lone Tree, especially with the quality of your photographs. The Lone Tree club is small but active. I'm not in it; all my pictures look like they were taken inside a paper bag.

Beautiful photographs Sandy. Have you thought about joining a camera club? What about the Parker Artist's Guild.(Sept. meeting Wed. 20th at 6:15pm - Parker Mainstreet Center) They have lots of artists and photographers of all levels and friendships are made quickly and easily.

Welcome to the Lone Tree hub, Sandy. Thanks for posting these terrific local photos. I know what you mean about how hard it is finding true friends. I don't have that many and I've lived here my whole life. I'm sure you'll meet some good people on YourHub.com.
