Karin's 5/20 Lone Tree City Council Report
Enough tributes to outgoing Mayor
Jack O'Boyle
and former Council Member
Elton Winters
(who didn't show) to make you double-check for flowers and caskets.
As many camera flashes as The Ivy when
Lindsay Lohan
lunches.
Splitting the Council meeting in half, Old Guard and New Kids, then trying to figure out who should approve what. Did the First Half approve items (a Douglas County IGA for County Line Road overlay money and an Eagle Ridge document camera equipment grant request) to just place them on the agenda or vote to be done? Don't ask me.
A Council Member (
Jackie Millet
) with a having-younger-kids perspective. She immediately recognized the potential hazard of pedestrian-activated flashing stop sign lights at the Eagle Ridge Elementary intersection: kids like to push buttons just for the heck of it.
Previous Mayor O'Boyle really needed his microphone, but new Mayor
Jim Gunning
interjects uhs and ums like
Obama
.
At a loss for new traditions, replacing Winter's trademark closing: "Missterr May'r, I move this meeting be adjourned." and the Mayor's "We're outta here" response.
Best chance to see Council Members' family and friends.
Only time Mayor says "Do you swear by the ever-living God," a phrase which arguably could be used more frequently in politics besides induction into office or facing criminal charges.
As noted by Gunning, first ordinance passed by the new council raised the sales tax. Remember, the people voted.
The meeting ended at a reasonable time.
