South Suburban Brings "Sweetness" to Needy
Contributed by: Jean Ray on 11/26/2007

South Suburban Parks and Recreation's 7th Annual 8-on-8 "Sweetness Bowl" Flag Football Tournament will be held on Saturday and Sunday, December 8 and 9, at David A. Lorenz Regional Park, 8560 S Colorado Boulevard. Butch Reich, athletics coordinator and director of the flag football tournament, started the "Sweetness Bowl" as a tribute to his favorite former football star, Walter Payton, and for his favorite little people, the children.

"Walter "Sweetness" Payton is one of the best to ever play football," said Reich. "This event not only gives tribute to him, but helps people who don't always have the resources they need for Christmas shopping." A portion of the proceeds will be donated to Interfaith Community Services and used to assist needy families with holiday costs.

Tournament fee is $305 per team and to register call 303-798-7515 or stop by the South Suburban Athletics Office, 6631 S. University Blvd. For other South Suburban holiday programs and activities, visit www.sspr.org.
