Police blotter: Boy throws rock at guitarist

BOY THROWS ROCK AT MUSICIAN

At about 2 p.m. May 18, an officer responded to The Vistas at Park Meadows, 8401 Park Meadows Center Drive, on a report of a child who threw a rock and struck someone in the head. A 30-year-old Lakewood man said he was playing his guitar in the commons area of The Vistas when he was struck in the back of the head with a rock. He said a 6- or 7-year-old boy threw the rock. The 30-year-old approached the father and told him what had happened. The father replied, "I already yelled at my son. What else do you want me to do, hit him?" The father and son then walked away and left the scene in a vehicle.

SHOPLIFTER FOUND IN FOOD COURT
At about 1 p.m. May 18, an officer responded to the food court at Park Meadows, 8401 Park Meadows Center Drive, on a report of a theft at Aldo Accessories. The suspected thief, a 28-year-old Denver man, was located in the food court. A bag he was carrying contained unpaid items from Aldo Accessories, as well as items from Guess and Express stores. The total amount of stolen items was $166.50. The 28-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of shoplifting and released on-scene.

ATTEMPTED BREAK-IN AT CAR WASH
At about 9:30 p.m. May 16, an officer responded to McTavish Car Wash, 7505 Parkway Drive, on a report of an attempted burglary. The owner of the car wash said he arrived at about 9 p.m. and was unable to unlock the bottom three locks on the door. Upon closer examination, he discovered someone had attempted to drill out the bottom lock. There are no suspects.

DRIVER CITED FOR DUI
Police pulled over a motorist on Yosemite Street near Park Meadows Drive at about 2 a.m. May 17 for an expired temporary registration. The driver, a 20-year-old Denver man, smelled strongly of alcohol and his eyes were bloodshot and watery. After failing voluntary roadside sobriety maneuvers, the driver was arrested on suspicion of DUI and underage drinking. He was transported to the Lone Tree Police Department.

'HARRY CONNICK JR.' ARRESTED
Deputies responded to a disturbance at Lodo's Bar and Grill, 8545 S. Quebec St., in Highlands Ranch, at about 7:30 p.m. May 21. A 38-year-old manager said a customer, later identified as a 36-year-old Aurora man, was escorted out of the bar after causing a disturbance. A waitress cut off the 36-year-old because he was visibly intoxicated. He responded by calling her a derogatory name and grabbing her by both arms. The manager then came over and asked him to leave, and the 36-year-old got in his face and pushed him in the chest. The 36-year-old then tried to punch the manager, but the manager moved out of the way. The 36-year-old also reportedly identified himself to the waitress as Harry Connick Jr. He was arrested on suspicion of harassment and disorderly conduct.

HOUSE SPRAY PAINTED
A deputy responded May 21 to a house under construction on the 9200 block of Wild Elk Place in Parker on a report of vandalism. Someone had spray painted the letters "MOB," a swastika, racial slurs and expletives in red and black paint on the west side of the house. There are no suspects.

GOLF CLUB SIGN DEFACED
On May 21, a deputy responded to The Club at Pradera, 5225 Raintree Drive, on a report of vandalism. Someone had spray painted the word "ballz" in orange paint on the golf club's main entrance sign. There are no suspects.

BROKEN LOCK COSTS MAN STEREO
On May 22, a 17-year-old Highlands Ranch man reported a theft. He said he and his family went on a camping trip May 17, and when he returned May 22 he noticed someone had stolen the stereo out of his '78 Chevy Blazer. He said the front passenger door was not locked because the lock is broken. The estimated value of the stereo is $1,700.

BUSINESS LIGHTS SHOT OUT
A deputy responded May 20 to C & A Companies, 333 Tessa Drive, on a report of criminal mischief. The business owner, a 55-year-old man, said he did a routine check of the business at about noon and discovered two lights at the entrance had been shot out with a shotgun. He said he found four shotgun shells near the entrance, in front of his mailbox. The lights were completely destroyed and the light posts had shotgun pellet in them. The estimated cost of damage is $500. There are no suspects.
