Blog Entry 18 of 38 The Economic Illiterate
I hate politics. I didn't use to but somewhere between now and about 12 years ago politics has become a one-way street. It seems that anyone who is into politics knows only their street and it has become frustrating. I believe I can make the better argument (for the conservative side that is) with just the facts nearly every time. When it comes to mainstream discussion, I don't believe I've met my match. And it has gotten me all the way to nowhere and back again. But the free markets are a different story. It is a subject that one can study forever and never truly be an expert. To some degree we're all economically illiterate, some more than others. I would likely write mostly about the economic peril we face in this country. Of course if I see anything ridiculous posted by some leftie, I may find it difficult not to jump in even though I know it won't have any effect whatsoever.

No-Bama

John McCain naively wanted to run a clean campaign. He refused to bring up the sordid relationships Obama had with Bill "wish I blew up more things" Ayers, Reverend "God Damn America" Wright, and Palestinian terrorist Rashid Khalidi, whom the LA Times allegedly has video of Obama toasting. For his attempts of a clean campaign, he gets flipped the bird by the "presidential" Barack Obama. If you want to argue this was innocent, save it. He did the same thing to Hillary Clinton during the primaries. This was not an accident or coincidence.

Speaking of the derelict press, who is unquestionably in the tank for Obama, would the LA Times refuse to release a tape if it were John McCain toasting a Palestinian terrorist? Hardly.

Would the media give McCain a pass if his aunt had been living in the country illegally for the past 4 years? Would they believe him if his explanation was, "Hey, I didn't know she was illegal!"

Would the media suppress important news about McCain's claim that his cap & trade plan will bankrupt the coal industry if he admitted it?

Obama is quoted as saying, "We will put a cap & trade system that's as aggressive if not more aggressive than anyone else's out there... If somebody wants to build a coal power plant, they can. It's just that it will bankrupt them because they are going to be charged a huge sum for all that greenhouse gas that's being emitted."

No, Senator. It won't bankrupt them because we need that electricity. They will pass on your tax to us for the "huge sum" that you are going to charge!! Admit it Senator, this is a tax on all American people who pay electric bills
.

America gets 49% of its electricity from coal and Colorado gets nearly 85% of its electricity from coal. Tell me Senator, who is really going to pay the price for your cap & trade tax on the American people in a time of economic hardship?

It turns out the San Francisco Chronicle deliberately covered up his remarks. Surprise, surprise.

While Barrack Obama proudly claims that he "wants to spread the wealth around," his aunt is living illegally in abject squalor in a Boston slum and his brother is living on $30 on month in Kenya. Apparently, the hypocritical Obama will spread your wealth around while ignoring the plight of his own family.

I hope no one is mistaking this guy for someone who is compassionate. I hope no one is mistaking this guy for someone who is truthful. I hope no one is mistaking this guy for someone who is objective about preserving Americans' constitutional rights.

I hope the folks aren't foolish enough to actually vote this marxist into the White House!

As far as Palin's continual "palling around with terrorists" rhetoric, that simply was not credible. Obama was 8 years old at the time of Ayer's radical domestic terrorism and his relationship w/him years later had nothing to do with Ayer's past. It's easy to paint people into either "evil" or "good." The fact is, all people have both in them -- including Ayers. Obama's preacher? Sure, he's an obnoxious, loudmouthed individual. But the umbrella in the U.S. is big enough for differing, and even disagreeable viewpoints, thank goodness. I'm sure that Obama agrees that there needs to be some changes in the U.S. to have more true equality for blacks.

Barb - I'm not condemning anyone. This post was a frantic, emotion based effort that resulted from me freaking out over Stuart Smalley leading in the polls in MN which told me the Dems were likely to get a filibuster proof Senate. I actually wanted Obama to win because I wanted him to get the blame for the forthcoming depression instead of Republicans. See, I thought the good guys would be able to block most of the damaging things and when it started looking like they would become powerless, the next best hope for the country was a McCain win, even though that would kill the Republicans for the next 20 years. So with the Dems poised to ensure that I'm right about the economy, not that there is anything they can do to stop it, I wrote this and posted it on as many hubs as I could before I got tired. But don't address any of the points because they are true, after all and there really isn't much in the way of rebuttal forthcoming anyway!

Oh Biii-iiing!! When I first wrote this someone slapped a 1 on it with NO COMMENT like, right away. I saw it the next morning (Tuesday) and didn't look at YourHub/Longmont until last night - Friday, 3 days later. Now there are 3 user ratings and the math adds up to 1, 5, 5 = 3.67 average rating. Bing, there is only room for a single 1. You didn't "rate and run" did you?? HA! YOU DID!! It was you who "rated and ran!!" The court finds you guilty of doing the very same thing you have condemned others for doing!! Excuse me, I need to look up the definition of 'hypocrisy' in the dictionary because I think we have a match, boys and girls!

So Bing, if you think I'm exaggerating Obama's redistributionist rhetoric, just say so. But from where I sit, he sounds like, "From each according to his ability, to each according to his needs." Would you like me to remind whose words those are?

Typical Sean Hannity type of useless party line prose! I find it hilarious how Faux News watchers are already predicting dire consequences of an Obama presidency and he hasn't even stepped into the Oval office yet! Why don't these people actually wait and see what he will do before condemning him?! I think they are scared because Obama may actually be able to UNITE both sides of the aisles and get rid of this mean spirited partisan politicking -- at least he's willing to try. But are you? I will be great to finally have some fresh blood in Washington -- I also think strategically it is a great idea to have a black family in the White House as our foreign enemies will be confused. The USA will be looked at with a new and better perspective -- something, God knows, we certainly need after 8 years of war and now economic disaster from the "fiscal conservatives."

What a despicable bunch of half truths and out right lies. I couldn't be more proud of my country for finally kicking the Republican goon squad of free market radicals who have sold out our countries best interests for a buck. How's your buddy the traitor Bob Schaffer doing? Oh yeah, that's right, it's not treason when your being paid to subvert the country. I used to think you had some sense David but it turns out that your just another Republican rube. Honestly, calling Obama a Marxist only illustrates that you are ignorant of marxism and easily lead. Don't worry, we'll save the country and we'll fight for you right to be an ill informed rube of the Republican Party.

You were saying, comrade?

Sorry, I have SOME faith in the American people to not elect this phony into the White House. Even George McGovern thinks this guy is a wacko. That's saying something.

David, brace yourself for a bad Tuesday night. From your perspective, anyway.
