Burlesque beauties heat up Longmont

Although December's filled with sleigh rides, mittens, ice, scarves and snow, there's never a bad time to heat things up with the wonders of a burlesque show.

If you're looking for something hot, fun, comedic and edgy, not only will KGNU be playing a segment titled "A Red Hot Burlesque Christmas" this week and next, but you can't miss the party at 9 p.m. Dec. 14 at 4th and Main Night Club, 380 Main St., in Longmont.

If you've never experienced a burlesque show, my advice for you is to, well, GO.

There's nothing quite like talented women reinventing 19th century music hall entertainment with their sexy, tasteful, artful moves and Vegas-style strip teases. From fire breathing to shocking flexibility, there's always something that will catch your eye.

Not only is the visual appeal what keeps me coming back to anything burlesque, but there's something about the music that helps heat up the mood.

(Not going to lie, I thought I was going through a phase when I would drive around listening to burlesque tunes -- but that hasn't changed for almost two years.)

So about the Dec. 14 event:

Sip on a martini or two or three while enjoying the performances of some of the most sought after burlesque stars in the country -- including glam goddess Orchid Mei, smart and sassy Peggy Tulane, bombshell Buttercup and the rebel angels of ChiksontheHill burlesque.

There's more:

This event is a fundraiser for the Estrojam cultural festival. Haven't heard of Estrojam? It's a 501(c)3 nonprofit festival that features women reaching new heights of artistic achievement and celebrates the most cutting edge art and music women are producing in the world currently.

World class musicians Chantel Mead and 8TraC will pump out their '70s funk-infused modern dance rock. Like I keep saying, it's going to be hot.

Tickets cost $10 in advance and $12 at the door. For all the extra details and to purchase your tickets online, go here.

To buy tickets in person, visit Rockin' Robin's Retro & Resale, 124 Second Ave., Niwot. For more information, call 303-652-4144.
