Blog Entry 15 of 38 The Economic Illiterate
I hate politics. I didn't use to but somewhere between now and about 12 years ago politics has become a one-way street. It seems that anyone who is into politics knows only their street and it has become frustrating. I believe I can make the better argument (for the conservative side that is) with just the facts nearly every time. When it comes to mainstream discussion, I don't believe I've met my match. And it has gotten me all the way to nowhere and back again. But the free markets are a different story. It is a subject that one can study forever and never truly be an expert. To some degree we're all economically illiterate, some more than others. I would likely write mostly about the economic peril we face in this country. Of course if I see anything ridiculous posted by some leftie, I may find it difficult not to jump in even though I know it won't have any effect whatsoever.

The Democrat Agenda and Obama

The Democrats, who want to be led by Barrack Obama are arrogantly seeking to deprive Americans of their constitutional rights. You'd think they'd at least wait until after the election to declare what they are going to do to us, but some have made no secret of their plans.

Their agenda:

  1. The Fairness Doctrine, or silence talk radio. Leftist Democrats own universities, news agencies, and unions. The one medium that is dominated by the right, talk radio, the Democrats want to legislate out of existence. When they implement the "Fairness" Doctrine, they will effectively silence their opposition. It's the "Democratic" thing to do, you know.

  1. Silence you. The Democrats and their derelict and willing accomplices in the media regularly seek to silence those they disagree with. Just ask Joe the Plumber. He had the audacity to ask Obama about his tax plan. The next thing he knows, he's subjected to the kind of anal exam usually reserved for congressional candidates. All he did was ask a question that shed light on Obama's socialist nature and he's relentlessly attacked.

Still don't believe me? A reporter from a Florida TV station simply asked Joe Biden if Obama's plans were socialist in nature. The media didn't like that so they investigated her family and found this vitally important tidbit: her husband worked as a Republican consultant so of course, she must be a shill. Did it matter her question was legitimate? Did it matter her questions were on the minds of many Americans and that no member of the derelict press bothered to pursue? No. To hell with the First Amendment. If you raise the slightest questions, they will come after you. To add insult to injury, the Obama camp angrily declared they would no longer answer any questions from this radio station. Meanwhile, Sarah Palin is busy appearing in hostile interviewing environments with Charlie Gibson, Katie Couric and CNN.

However, you may not have heard the Obama camp also silenced KYW-TV in Philadelphia for the same thing - asking tough questions about Obama's tax thievery - I mean, plan. KYW aired the interview once and then got rid of the interview - pulled it from their website. If you want to survive in a fascist Obama state, you better not cross this guy.

  1. Your 401k. Liberal California congressman George Miller has a plan for your 401k. He wants it. If you sign it over to him, He in his benevolent authority of all that is good and right with the world, will give you a credit at August levels, before the crash. Nice. Then, He will "invest" your money in government bonds that someone has to buy because no one else will - at 3%. Nice again. And of course this will all be managed by the Socialist Security Administration because they've done such a wonderful job of screwing up Socialist Security for the last 70 years. And of course your 401k will be spent by the government just like your current Socialist Security taxes. Triple nice! Oh yes, if you don't sign it over to Him, He will remove the tax benefit you've enjoyed for so long.

  1. Your economy. They want to screw up what's left of it with the same policies that were proven failures after the '29 crash. And it isn't just me saying it. A timely article in today's Longmont Times-Call quoted Vincent Reinhardt of the Federal Reserve's monetary affairs division on 3 things that led to the depression: lack of credit, "protective" tariffs, and increased taxes. Obama's union supporters will demand that he implement tariffs. He has already stated that he will unilaterally rewrite NAFTA, which led the Canadians to declare they'll find somewhere else to sell their oil. He, along with his fellow, union-driven Democrats also oppose a free trade agreement with Columbia. He has said he will double the capital gains tax although he now wants us to believe he won't. He will soak the rich, raising both income and payroll taxes, which will inevitably lead to higher unemployment. I find it absolutely puzzling that Democrats can't honestly answer the simple question, "Have you ever gotten a job from a poor person?" Not only won't they answer it honestly, they'll assert trickle-down doesn't work! It's completely amazing.

  1. Join the Union! Rather not? Well, first you'll have to get passed the union thugs that will be watching over your shoulder when you fill out your ballot. That's right, the formally "secret" ballot the Democrats plan to not make secret any longer. But wait! Isn't there a right to privacy in this country? Apparently not under an Obama administration.

  1. Raise taxes indirectly by soaking oil companies. This is actually OK because we hate those oil companies and their "obscene" profits. They make stinking rotten gasoline and they're a bunch of fat cats anyway - you know the typical, divisive left-wing rhetoric. There's one problem. They produce gasoline that gets us to work, gets our kids to day care and school and gets us to Grandma's house. They also make a whopping 5-8% margin in earnings which is less than most other large cap companies like Google. The oil companies will get their money folks, either through the tax breaks that are currently in effect or through higher prices passed on to you. It's your choice and Obama thinks you're stupid enough to fall for the higher prices passed on to you. (So does Ritter - see Amendment 58) Besides, when that happens he can demagogue them all the more. It's win/win for Obama. He can tax you indirectly in a time of economic hardship and blame the oil companies for actually making a profit.

This is only a taste of what we will have to look forward to if this income-redistributionist communist is elected. I'd prefer that if Obama wins then the Republican filibuster be preserved. Only, a Republican filibuster looks more and more in doubt, especially if Stuart Smalley wins in Minnesota.

I've openly suggested that I would prefer a Democrat win this election because the winner becomes the ultimate loser and so does the party they belong to. But I cringe at the thought of this Democrat winning the White House, even if it costs my party in the future.

You Obama supporters take heart. You and Iran are on the same page but maybe that's a good thing.

This link is a fun link thatshows the epitome of the average Obama supporter. Note: For you lefties who try to keep yourselves informed but happen to reach a different conclusion than me, I'm not talking about you. I don't consider you a typical Obama supporter. Watch the clip - you'll see what I mean.

This link explains why I'm scared to death of this clown.

Update: Found another germane entry on a video blog that is even more fun than the one above.

The Democratic Agenda is to actually uphold the Constitution the Republicans have urinated on the past 3 decades. Enjoy your 401k and you7r delusions.

Hahahaha! Homie is right! (That didn't sound right...)

Wow. Made it about halfway through. Not funny so much as sad.

Yeah - click the Update link right above this box. I just added it this morning... Put on your laughing shoes - it's fun! :)

David - I haven't seen it - got an URL?

He Ralph - did you like the "brutha" video??!! Isn't it hilarious? AND TRUE?!!

Well Ralph, you're right - they have been rather loud on the tax cut issue, mostly doubting he'll "only" raise taxes if you make $250 Grand. Or is it $200 Grand? Wait I know, it's $150 Grand like Biden said last week. You shouldn't blame them - they're just confused. You get that way when Obama says he's going to give a tax break to 95% of Americans when 40% of Americans don't even pay taxes. Trying to follow this guy will make you pull your hair out!!

My main point is that the GOP leadership and punditry has turned into a bunch of drama queens, running around like their hair is on fire screaming "the sky is falling." But if you look past the talking heads' screeching and hair-pulling, their talking points just don't hold water. Rolling back tax breaks for the ultra-wealthy isn't socialism, revealing someone to be a fraud isn't "silencing" them, and listening to somebody's idea is not the same as embracing it.

One other honorable mention before I leave for work... I appreciate Ted digging up all that on recessions even though I disagree with his conclusion - that Republican presidents cause them the Democrat presidents cure them. But still, compared with the rest of the crap that came at me, I'll appreciate that every time.

BTW: I wouldn't call what we had last night "an exchange." It was a pathetic reminder of how petty and devoid of intelligent thought the left really is. I mean, you have people actually thinking the President can make YOUR (empahasis added) life better, by robbing Peter to pay you! That has to be the dumbest assumption one can possibly make... But that's the left!
