Longmont woman lands sweet HBO gig

For anyone who has witnesses the subtly hilarious HBO comedy Flight of the Conchords, it's pretty obvious who wins the Funniest Non-New Zealand Native award on the show: the Kiwi comic folk duo's #1 (and seemingly only) fan, Mel.

Mel's hyper-intensive love for all things Conchords is played to creepy perfection by comedienne/actress Kristen Schaal who just happens to have grown up on a farm in Longmont. Click here to read a Gothamist interview that seems to focus a lot on her days on the farm. See her MySpace page here.

Now of Brooklyn, Kristen is an accomplished stand-up ( seen here a few days ago at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival), sketch actor and prolific vlogger (both in and out of character).

Here is Kristen in action on FOTC, for the uninitiated. ( link)

Here is a not-as-funny video Kristen shot driving in Colorado. ( link)

Update: I found Kristen's account on Vimeo, and it has even more videos. ( link)

Good job on reaching your goals. Its not often people actually get to do what makes them happy. It makes me happy to see someone from "MEAD" succeed. Congradulations & KICK ASS. Eli Krebs

I grew up with Kristen. Age 5 to 18. She is a great gal and someone to always share a laugh. Kristen, I love seeing your success. You're living you're dream! _Andrea

She's super cute and I love her gig at the festival. "Am I right? Am I right???" I also love her voice.

This is a great show, and her part is spot-on. Seriously creepy & nerdy.

She really does seem like she was born in Longmont.
