District Manufactured Report: Give us More Money!
Contributed by: Brad Jolly   on 6/2/2008

Unless there is a headline somewhere that says Report: Marlboro man lacks cigarettes, today's Times-Call will easily win the 2008 Bizarre Headline of the Year award.

The St. Vrain Valley School District (SVVSD) has a long history of manufacturing "news" to serve as propaganda for its tax increase requests, and today's example may be the most egregious. Trumpeted with the headline Report: SVVSD lacks administrators, the SVVSD's Comprehensive Appraisal of District Improvement (CADI) audaciously claims that the district needs more administrators.

Fortunately, Victoria Camron's article makes it clear that the report largely comprises the opinions of district administrators, teachers and school board members, so the person who actually reads the article understands the source of the ridiculous claim in the headline. The person who remembers only the headline will be left with the incorrect impression that a serious report shows that the district needs more administrators.
