What I told the school board
Contributed by: Brad Jolly   on 6/6/2008

People often ask me how I would fix the district's badly broken math program. I gave a 45-minute presentation to the school board on this very topic last October; you can see the slides at http://www.topmath.info/pres.pps.

The presentation recommends several free or very inexpensive tools, but the district has been too busy whining about how it needs more money to actually adopt the free stuff.

Sad.

I appreciate that Mr. Jolly is not speaking politics, but comes from an intellectual point of view instead. The situation he addresses is the result of process evolution in today’s educational, political and governmental institutions is created by peopled and staffs who are products of the dumbing down of the U.S. Educational System over the past 40 years. He urges the community and SVVSD to wake up to the fact the institution is intellectually dysfunctional and if it does not repent the whole community it serves will become dysfunctional as well. This phenomena lowering levels of difficulty and intellectual capacity has spread to appointments to Longmont’s Master Board of Appeals by new voting bloc Council members. Day time school teacher McCoy made motion to lower the general level of intellectual achievement of their appointments, 2nd by Hansen & adopted by Benker & Levinson’s votes. The Bloc’s dumbing down through the City’s Boards & Commissions makes the economy dysfunctional.
