Money for the Movies
Contributed by: Brad Jolly   on 7/10/2008

The Times-Call has recently published two letters from St. Vrain students - one a current student, and one a recent grad. They disagreed about whether taxpayers should fund a mill levy override, but they both noted that St. Vrain students are spending a lot of time watching movies. Sad.

Haven't you got the memo yet, Brad? If the kids (or anyone else) don't tow a particular line, they're LIARS! One was even a grad, that means just about a college student, ripe for indoctrination. THEN they'll be enlightened. See how it works? Most of the 'movies' I hear about from my kids are after school, at school, and not free. My 9th grader said about 1 20min video a day, but said most were interesting.

Do you have reason to believe the students are liars, Mr. Dosser? They come from opposite points of view on the mill levy override, yet they both mentioned the same observation about movies. If you have proof they are lying, bring it!

Well, as long as you've got a couple of students word for it...

I don't have kids and I am long removed from my school days--how common is it these days for kids to watch movies in school? Reason I ask--the last time I went to a first-run movie at AMC 24 Westminster on a Friday morning in mid-May, there were about 50 middle schoolers there as a group with several teachers. Just wondering.
