Blog Entry 40 of 66 Wrongmont
These are the Longmont stories you may have missed in the local paper, if they ran them at all. I will expand on what was either glossed over or totally ignored - but still may be of interest to you. I encourage citizens to be aware of their local, state, and federal government and to speak up and hold their representatives accountable for their actions - good, bad, or otherwise.

Having It Both Ways
Contributed by: Chris Rodriguez   on 12/13/2007

If you're like me, you're probably getting tired of people blowing hot air out of both sides of their mouth. Here's an extreme example: " I don't mean to offend, but you're a scum sucking pig". Oh, no, they didn't mean to offend, right. Or, here's a good one: " I really support the troops, don't question that, but all of their commanders are corrupt and/or clueless, and let's go see that film that portrays those troops as raping and murdering thugs, but I still support them." Guess you can fool some of the people some of the time.

Getting closer to home, we have this "Megachurch" situation, as it's being called now. The rest of us know it as Lifebridge's Union Annexation. There will be a special election for it in late January '08, the question is should it or shouldn't it be annexed as part of Longmont. The anti-annexation crowd (they don't like being called " anti-Lifebridge", a " cabal", or who knows what else) is trying a new approach, but repeatedly stating they aren't condemning church members, nor attacking them. Uh huh.

Usually right before or after these disclaimers they go right on ripping into those they disagree with. Maybe we need a trip down memory lane to see what this anti-Lifebridge cabal (oops) has let slip out from some of their members. Some of which you probably haven't seen or heard, and wish you never had.

Even though I think I've made it pretty clear I'm in no way affiliated with Lifebridge, the assumptions and attacks on my unstated religious affiliation began. When that went nowhere, it was on to my ethnicity. Let's see, since my " last name is Rodriguez" I must be either " running one of those "landscaping" businesses using a bunch of illegals for labor" or my " brother is in home building" or I need to get a " job washing dishes". They also remind me " Colorado is built on slave labor from Mexico friend - don't push it". Wow, they put me in my place.

I got a nice chuckle when one of their leaders (another one, Richard Juday, is running for city council by the way) out of the blue claimed he was " born again". Yet there was no shortage of comics and comments fairly derogatory towards people of faith. But the "born again" part gives him "street cred", I guess, to rip on everyone else. Hypocrite is overused, how about ... "wrong end of a horse"?

Speaking of horses, I don't really have one in this race, so I am not offended if I offended anyone. I'm also not running for anything, or have multiple websites trying to derail something (Lifebridge), or ran a petition drive secretly videotaping those that signed. OOPS, you signers not know that? Ah, but don't worry, they told you they are just normal, everyday people, JUST LIKE YOU, probably you're neighbors, remember? If those are your kind of people, you belong together; you should support them and their candidates. Here's a pat on the head...and a SUCKER.

Hmm, based on the second half of that comment Duane I have to ask...How much acid exactly DID you drop during the 60's? I like to joke around as much or more than the next guy - but I'm only half joking.

Steve, the petition in opposition to the LifeBridge annexation was submitted by citizens. They are thinking for themselves. You will say they are not and that is the end of the argument. Anyone who disagrees with you is being duped. Anyone who agrees is thinking for themselves. You are a piece of work. Simple but quite a work. Love is what Christ talked about. Love is socialism. I believe in love. Call me what you will. You should come to Jesus. I am not a Christian. But I respect Christ. Get over it. Come to Jesus!

Thanks Steve, and welcome to YourHub. And without any 'buts' or qualification I say thanks for your service. No worries, rolls right off my back (or as my main man Phil Hendrie says - as RC Collins - slides right off my knife). It's pretty funny when all they have left is spelling comments, ethnic slights, lazy generalizations and assumptions. Rock on.

LOL! Bing Buddy! I will attest to the notion that you never have an original thought! If you do, it is twisted because you base them from information from mediamatters, Air America, and other spin centers! Chris.. Don't mind the self-proclaimed libs that mistake spelling and grammer for truth and context of actual facts. I have always hated the statment of "I support the troops but..." In the military it was "with all due respect...." Oh please! Might as well just start a thought with, I know I'm an idiot but... I notice that the folks that are upset over LifeBridge issues tend to be from the left of center. They simply can't stand the fact that someone else has a successful idea, and approach that motivates them. We certainly can't have citizens initiating things on their own!... why liberals trying to return to socialism and turn the evolution of the country backwards in time for the sake of their agenda can't stand for it.

Liberty, that's a good one, how many of the Bill of Rights do you support, especially of the first two? And who get's to decide who is infringed upon, you? A hack politician or judge who'll be dead and forgotten in a decade? I get my guidance on this a lot further back, you know the stuff many of you hate, 'original intent' with your living Constitution (just so it can be killed, no thanks). It's also liberty for "all", not who you prefer, and less for those you dislike. Of all your BS, this one I buy the least. OVERtaxation is stealing liberty, too, unless you're the receiver of course. Can we get any further off topic?

I don't care, stay, criticize me, but please don't bother with the "bye bye" and "I'm done with you"'s, etc - unless you want to reinforce the jackball (can't say the other word) image. Just one 'tow the line' platitude after another - you wonder why so often you have to ask why people don't address each and every 'point' you make? That's why. 'Liberal sources are more truthful', and you hint about others bathing in their own narrow minded ignorance...and say something like that? I'd say you must be kidding, but I know you're not.

As for you not caring about ticking people off. I don't care that you don't care! If I'm ticked off I could care less if you want to get criticism from me or not. I'm simply going to give it to you.
