Blog Entry 21 of 24 Another Home Office Inmate
Just another web consultant whose boss is a complete slave driver. But I take my revenge by reading - a lot - when he's not looking. I believe in the role of government to help improve society, but I'm fully aware of the dangers of entrenched bureacracy and the how money corrupts. I'm not so much a liberal as I am appalled by what passes for modern conservatism. And as the pendulum swings back and the left finds its voice and strength again, I'm ready to damn its excesses. "To you, I'm an atheist. To God, I'm the loyal opposition."

I've got a truly insane idea. Let's sit down and have a drink.

It's all too easy to demonize a name on a web page, but maybe not so with somebody you've connected with. Somebody you share something with. Somebody you've showed a picture of your kids, or talked sports, or computers, or hiking trails. A human being you happen to disagree with.

In 1914 British and German troops in one small piece of no-man's-land stopped shooting, just for one day. Maybe we Americans can do the same. Maybe some folks from Longmont can sit down for a bit and share a laugh.

I'll be at the the Pumphouse, in the Red Zone, Thursday (9/25) at 7. I'll have an American flag on the table. Ask the waitstaff for the YourHub Trench Soccer League. Acceptable topics: kids, sports, hobbies, computers - we're smart people, we'll know when we're getting in trouble, won't we? Anybody who crosses the line has to ... i dunno, chug, buy a round, stand up and sing the Star Spangled Banner - something. We'll make it up as we go.

Who's in? At the very least we'll get a brawl to post about.

I can handle lefties... I'm surrounded by them. Church, work - I think I have more left-wing friends than right-wing friends. You guys are everywhere! BUT!!! None of (any of) my friends are rude.

Whoa Marilyn, it's "cease fire" tonight! We can go back to our regularly scheduled mayhem tomorrow.

Can we include some psychotherapy for all the "whiners" like David, Chrissie, and Stephie? I will bring a Tx plan for them.

No can do, working. Would be nice if your theory worked, but after meeting Kaye, Duane, and Doug, the attacks and insults only increased (by them).
