Blog Entry 192 of 208 The Subversive Liberal
"If by a "liberal" they mean someone who looks ahead and not behind, someone who welcomes new ideas without rigid reactions, someone who cares about the welfare of the people — their health, their housing, their schools, their jobs, their civil rights and their civil liberties — someone who believes we can break through the stalemate and suspicions that grip us in our policies abroad, if that is what they mean by a "liberal," then I'm proud to say I'm a "liberal." – President John F. Kennedy...................... Some people find me and that sentiment subversive. I'm here to set the record straight and offer the real typical liberal point of view. Some call it subversive, I call it patriotic.

RNC so far a disgraceful circus
Contributed by: Bing Van Gorden   on 9/4/2008

The RNC has revealed the party's platform. It's pretty ugly and divisive and doesn't solve a thing.

Mitt Romney called out the Supreme Court out for actually upholding the Constitution. He called them "liberal" gasp! Well at least he admitted that interpreting the Constitution is what liberals do and conservatives like himself don't really care. Palin also mocked our founding document, belittling Miranda rights. These guys still insist terrorism can be fought on a battle field and it has nothing to do with police work. These pillars of morality honestly don't care if others rights are violated as well as tortured. Sick.

Guilliani and Palin thought Obama's community service was a joke. Communities should just rot I guess. When a guy earns a law degree from Harvard and decides to give back to the community like that, it should be commended, never mocked. But this is what the Republicans have to offer. This is the new face of conservatism, they say. Looks a lot like the old face. The now loathed ex mayor of New York City also wondered why Democrats were "afraid" to say the phrase "Islamic Extremists." Actually the State Department has urged the media and those who roll around in it like a pig in slop (Rudy) to not use that kind of terminology including the oxymoronic "islamo-fascist." Studies suggest that verbage doesn't play well with the moderates in the Arab world. Despite Republican thoughts on the subject, it behooves us to try and win those people over. Like the Bush administrations botched foreign policy, it only aids terrorist recruitment.

The theme of his speech was apparently "look how funny I am picking on Democrats while ignoring what you little people are going through." Talk about elitists. Har har har, we don't care if you have no health care or lost your job, don't blame us, blame the markets we deregulated, har har. Word on the street is Mrs. Mc Cain's opening night outfit cost 300 grand. Yeah, she goes to Wal-Mart.

Palin's speech was full of BS. She lied about Obama's record and her own. She offered nothing in the way of solutions. She said nothing about health care, she said nothing about the struggling middle class. She did bring up her special needs baby though. Claiming that parents like her would have a friend in the White House. I almost spit up beer through my nose when I heard that one! She cut funding for special needs kids as Governor. I wonder what that means to Governor Palin. When have Republicans been in favor of funding for unwed mothers or special needs kids? Just like she failed as a parent and representative by insisting in abstinence only education and keeping our kids ignorant. How upstanding the compassionate conservative community has become when one of their new standard bearers fails so miserably at upholding those superior values of theirs. The new symbol of the Republican Party should be the Hippopotamus for their hypocrisy.

The message for the Republican faithful from their party is clear. Nothing is wrong with the economy more of the same won't fix. You're on your own, unless it's an election year, then you might get lucky. Sarah Palin's daughter had a choice but if she has it her way your's won't. Let's dumb down our kids more by teaching creationism in our schools. Let's not worry about our debt or our outsourced jobs. As Mc Cain's economic advisor keeps insisting, we're all just whiners out here anyway. We're imaging our homes being foreclosed on and our jobs being shipped out. And if we can hasten the end times and bring Jesus back by ignoring global warming and trying to provoke World War 3, why not give it a shot?

Seeing this convention truly makes me sad and angry. It's sad to hear the rhetoric and divisive nonsense but even sadder to see the delegates enjoy it so much. No solutions offered. No concern shown for the middle class, the poor. Nothing on health care. The only thing on energy seems to be more oil and not much else. No substance, no call to action. Palin got big ratings last night and I'm glad. Obama has raked in close to 10 million (Thanks David!) since her speech while the RNC has about 1. I'm hoping people got a good look at what the Republicans are all about. Fear and loathing.

My favorite part was the Iraq war vet who defiantly held up the sign that read Mc Cain votes against vets on one side and how do you win an occupation on the other.

For me the high point of the Republican Convention was the surprise endorsement of teen sex and pregnancy. The scarlet letter "A" now stands for "A-OK!"

Thinking of it a little more, that quote you presented also more accurately describes the conservative Republican. Just listen to their radio programs. Prog radio actually allows opposing view points, conservative do not. Democrats in Congress despite being kept out of debate in the last Congress by Republicans still give the opposition party a voice. You can believe whatever fairy tales you want about liberals, that's fine by me. You will never defeat your enemy until you truly know their motivations. You don't have a clue about ours.

David, Richard is free to be as paranoid and delusional as the next guy and I am free to tell him to take a leap. No one is trying to take away his 1st Amendment rights. I don't know or care who made the asinine quote regarding liberals. If you really believe that I feel sorry for you, as it is way off the mark. Liberals merely believe the Constitution demands liberty for all, those limits on liberty start when they infringe on another. We believe the government also has a responsibility to act in the best interests of the citizenry.

Oh Davey. I would never deprive the world of you - you're simply too precious... Every time I read one of your comments it's like watching a political Jurrasic Park... except the T-rex is only two feet tall (budget cuts y'know).

"Their prime driving force for them (Liberals) is to take down those who they know, knows more than they, and must eradicate them from the forum or lose position in Time/Space. It is all about their perception of power. You will have Hell to pay if you go against them." From: http://www.plnewsforum.com/index.php?/forums/viewthread/38962/ ... This is what they do folks!

I wonder if the season opener of the NFL season featuring the SuperBowl champs had anything to do with McCain getting more viewers, if in fact he did. Well hate motivates more than hope I guess.
