Blog Entry 9 of 36 The Economic Illiterate
I hate politics. I didn't use to but somewhere between now and about 12 years ago politics has become a one-way street. It seems that anyone who is into politics knows only their street and it has become frustrating. I believe I can make the better argument (for the conservative side that is) with just the facts nearly every time. When it comes to mainstream discussion, I don't believe I've met my match. And it has gotten me all the way to nowhere and back again. But the free markets are a different story. It is a subject that one can study forever and never truly be an expert. To some degree we're all economically illiterate, some more than others. I would likely write mostly about the economic peril we face in this country. Of course if I see anything ridiculous posted by some leftie, I may find it difficult not to jump in even though I know it won't have any effect whatsoever.

Trashing Old Glory
Contributed by: David Brown   on 9/7/2008

Ask any Boy Scout, "What is the proper way to dispose of the American Flag?" I'm certain the answer will not be, "Put it in a trash bag and throw it out with the rest of the garbage."

Yet that is exactly what Democratic organizers did following the Democratic National Convention in Denver. 84 garbage bags filled with an estimated 12,000 American flags were found in and around dumpsters near a loading dock.

But the Democrats explained. They claim the flags were "proudly waved by 75,000 people," yet these flags looked brand new, still bundled by the dozen. The Democrats also claimed that "McCain supporters" - the Boy Scouts and the VFW - "wrongfully took" the flags in a "cheap political stunt." In other words, the Democrats are claiming the Boy Scouts and the VFW STOLE THEM!!

The Republicans passed out some of them at a rally in Colorado Springs and plan to donate the rest to veteran memorials across the country. Couldn't the Democrats have thought of that instead of throwing them out with the rest of the garbage?

For a little fun, let's play a game. It's called, "Find the flag at the DNC"

PS. Notice that I never said that Democrats "hate this symbol of ourcountry."

Sure, beer on me. But not so soon, on my "meds" (sorry, just Advil) due to multiple and varied past sports injuries, surgeries, ruptures, tears and breaks.

Bing's alright David, we've had our battles, and yes Bing, you do take things too personally at times and overgeneralize your opponents (I dont have time to watch Fox or listen to talk radio, btw). But (and I hope and assume I'm right about this) the main difference between Bing and the other lefties in here, is he doesn't appear to try to shank you in the back to get even or silence you through questionable antics on and offline. And I didn't need any beer to say that - which that free beer offer is always there Bing.

David, you sound like a "silver lining" kind of guy like me. Get lemons, make lemonade. This current council is a pundit/commentators dream come true! If they went away, well, I don't know what I'd do. That beach place in Hawaii keeps calling, believe me, but this is too much fun.

And don't take things personally! Here's what I'm going to do if my girl loses. Since the economy is going to crap (no way around it - no way - I'm telling you) I would just rationalize it that we are going to blame no matter who is in office. We will! And I would let Obama take the blame knowing full well he doesn't deserve it. Just let McCain take the blame and we'll blame all the Republicans along with him! That's how we are Bing - we don't know any better.

On another note, perhaps it's the addition of hops and barley into my blood stream but hey David. I love you man! And I don't want your bud light. Seriously though, you are a good sport. I can get so passionate I take things personally and may lash out more than I should. But I respect you, and your opinion and the fact you are engaged and want some kind of debate. That is to be commended, whether we agree or not. That being said your sissy pants fantasy football team is going down in flames daddy-o! Testicular Fortitudes Rule!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well I'm glad you had the foresight to know that the Democrats would claim they were stolen. Now use that high powered perception and apply it to the liklihood that they really would toss thousands of flags in the trash. FoxNews just lied to you again, and you bought it. An absurd and ridiculous claim by a desperate and despicable politcal party. You have to truly be gullible to really believe Democrats were throwing out these flags and even more so to trust FoxNews. Y'all are pretty easy to read too. You'll take anything and spin it no matter how ridiculous the claim, and you'll believe it.

So about an hour later, Cameron comes on again and people were passing them out and he said what they didn’t pass out would be intended for veterans memorials across the county. I then – I swear – told my wife, “You watch – the Democrats are going to say the Republicans stole the flags from them.” I’m swear!! Not 2 minutes later Cameron read a statement from either the Obama camp or the Democratic National Committee that the Republicans “wrongfully took” the flags. OH MAN!! I was literally rolling on my bed, LMAO!! I’m telling you Bing, you guys are easy to read a mile away!! Hee-hee-hee!! Look – in all seriousness. They were destined for the trash – period! Was it an oversight by the Democrats? Was it really the cleaning crew who threw them out? Who knows? I think though that by the Democrats statement, I’m inclined to believe they did it and tried to pin it on the Republicans for stealing them – 8 days later.
