Blog Entry 20 of 35 Dooty and Honor
My take on the political scene, spiced with bits of life-as-it-happens. I'll try and separate the fertilizer from the facts, at least as I see it. Coming from the perspective of a not-so-average guy with little or no respect for sacred cows, moose or squirrels. A master debater and wielder of a needle-sharp wit guaranteed to pop the toughest gasbag. Count on seeing people you know and love lampooned and harpooned with impunity and puns galore. No one will be spared, that's a promise. (Note: this blog not recommended for the humor-impaired and you know who you is.)

Pretzel Logic

Andrew Sullivan points out something that will probably have the entire LF on their feet screeching like chimps in an electrified-floor cage: Bush doesn't dare acknowledge John McCain's torture - it's not torture by the Bush Admin's definition!

Look at the transcript from Bush's RNC speech.

John McCain's life is a story of service above self. Forty years ago, in an enemy prison camp, Lieutenant Commander McCain was offered release ahead of others who had been held longer.

His wounds were so severe that anyone would have understood if he had accepted.

John refused. For that selfless decision, he suffered nearly five more years of beatings and isolation. When he was released, his arms had been broken, but not his honor.

Fellow citizens, if the Hanoi Hilton could not break John McCain's resolve to do what is best for his country, you can be sure the angry left never will.

-
Why can't our President, the Decider, the Resolute One, compass pointer of the Moral Majority say the word 'torture'?

Can you say 'incrimminating' ?

Yep, that's our Prez, doesn't dare say the name of the thing his administration has done.

'Angry left' ? You can't even drive back to angry from where I'm at. The people that have brought us to this point need to be brought to justice.

Resign George.

Do it now.

Tricky Dick at least had the class to step down when he was caught red-handed.

Mick, I'm with you. Love the Steely Dan. Anyone know where they got their name from? AS for the Huckabee lie, sure you could look at it in a certain way that requires you to stand on your head to assume he meant one thing or another. The magic number Biden would have had to get would only have to exceed 1,000 votes as that is higher than her entire total through 2 mayoral races. Huckabee was trying to be funny by exaggerating or lying. It is petty to talk about it. It should be simply accepted that it wasn't truthful statement and move on. Huckabee's a nut anyway. So's Ron Paul but at least he has enough sense to flip Mc Cain the bird.

Isn't Alaska a state in Russia? Oh, it has to be for Ms. Palin to have foreign experience - what a joke! Oh and gotta love her family values. Humm, lets see, Hubby is in a union and we know how evil they are, 17 year old daughter is knocked up by an 18 year old (statutory rape in Alaska), but then Alaska is part of Russia, right? So who knows what goes on in those cold winter nights. Polar bears live on land (only in Alaska) and there is a bridge to no where up there. Can anyone tell me how you build a bridge to no where? Isn't that something similar to Never Land? Help me Tink, Tink? Oh Peter! Only the repubs could build something like that.

Ah... 'metaphorically'... 'it doesn't matter'... what a delightful noise those big flappy shoes make as they run away.

Huckabee admitted to speaking "metaphorically" when he said that, for what that's worth. Why don't they just say how many votes she got in the gubernatorial race? 114,697. I'm pretty sure that's more than Biden. Even in the primary she got over 51k votes. This whole 'who got votes' is pointless, especially when the left says being governor of this little state (3 EC votes, like Delaware) amounts to nothing.

You know Bing, sometimes people are talking about 2 different things. There are some that say Biden NEVER GOT ANY VOTES FOR PRESIDENT. Others point to Palin's 909 votes for Mayor to Biden's 287 caucus votes in Iowa. So lets see, which is the greater number, 909 or 287?? Or zero? Can you tell me what exactly Huckabee meant? I didn't think so. So you'll forgive me if I give the benefit of the doubt to Huckabee, whom I trust more than some militant left-wing bully who hangs out on questionable (at best) web sites and spews the crap he believes from them.

From Factcheck.org- The biggest whopper of the night may have come from former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee, who charged that Palin “got more votes running for mayor of Wasilla, Alaska, than Joe Biden got running for president of the United States.” It may sound like a great line, but it’s not true – not even close. Palin garnered 651 votes in 1996 and 909 votes in 1999 in her two races for mayor of Wasilla, according to the city. Biden, despite withdrawing from the race after the Iowa caucus, got 79,754 votes in the Democratic primaries. You notice the numbers David? Now who's using facts and who looks like someone just damaged their credibility?

David, Sarah Palin didn't get 80,000 votes as Mayor of Wassilla. The town's popultaion was 5,000 and she recieved votes in the hundreds. Not sure where you got the 80,000 metric from but it certainly doesn't mean Huckabee didn't lie through his teeth. Go to Factcheck.org, non-partisan, to see just how far your party was from the truth. Why don't you try some fact checking insead of pulling numbers out of your arse?!

David, one is www.longmontreport.com and the other is muskrathunt.blogspot.com - really two pea's in the same pod. Much as Doug likes to call LR a hate site or whatever, you look at both and be the judge of that. Both have been mentioned in my podcast, too! Mainly cuz Doug wrongly assumed I WAS LR, surprised they haven't accused you yet. Hmm, didn't Doug ask again who that girl was with the gun on LR's page? OMG! Could it be Sarah Palin!!!

He didn't "lie" - there you go again. Biden picked up 2,329 votes in the Iowa caucus. http://www.gazetteonline.com/Assets/xls/IowaStatewideTotals.xls ..... After that dismal showing, he dropped out of the race but still managed to pick up 638 in New Hampshire. I'm sure the cat dragged in a few more votes here and there but there is NO WAY he got over 80,000 votes. NO WAY!!! Figure it out and may I suggest you do a little research before you damage your credibility by calling people liars when it isn't true?
