Beginning Watercolor Painting

What:	When making 2-D art in general, and watercolor painting in particular, Dr Smalley learned concepts that are so basic that he felt they should be explained right at the beginning of everyone's education in art. While trying to be creative in his art, the light finally dawned when he met painter and instructor, Tony Couch. Although not new, these concepts are rarely taught by most painting instructors or are only briefly mentioned. However they are so essential to creating interesting paintings that Ron feels compelled to bring them to you in this Beginners' Watercolor Painting Class. His art can be found at The Muse Gallery. http://www.themusegallery.org/members/SmalleyRon/index.html Ron Smalley, accomplished painter, enjoys the unpredictability of watercolor when pigment, water and paper meet producing beautiful effects not obtainable with other media. He sought the advice of great contemporary watercolorists and studied under masters such as Tony Couch, Frank Webb and Tom Lynch. He admires past great painters such as Winslow Homer, John Singer Sargent, John Marin and Charles Burchfield. His philosophy of artistic expression follows the teachings of Edgar Whitney as explained by Tony Couch.
