Beginning Watercolor - Botanical Art
Contributed by: Dennis DuBe on 4/17/2008

What:
Learn the basics of Botanical Art, an art form that dates back to the Renaissance when it was used to illustrate books of herbs, fruits, vegetables and flowers. No experience needed. We'll explore mixing colors with watercolor paint, looking at plants like never before, simple drawing and various techniques that lead to lovely finished pieces. If you miss a class, a make-up class can be scheduled for you in the next session. Please bring to class a 12 inch ruler, pencil and eraser, watercolor palette or old plate, and a number 2 watercolor brush that has a good point at the end (Black Velvet are excellent and not expensive.) Please bring $10 to the first class for paper and paint if you do not have your own.
Linda Roth teaches Botanical Art at her studio in Niwot. Her work has been featured in shows in New York City, Denver, Boulder, Loveland and Niwot. She arranges shows for her students at the Left Hand Grange and other venues throughout the year.
